Job Description:
Role: Construction Cost Estimator (Data Research)

Role Overview: Operating within the Research Department, this role develops, validates, and maintains the residential, commercial, and agricultural construction cost data that powers Cotality's estimating platforms. It requires transforming hands-on field experience and market research into highly accurate pricing, material, and labor data while collaborating across product and data teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Data Development & Analysis: Research, calculate, and compile construction cost data (materials, labor, equipment, and full assemblies) across multiple structure types.
  • Database Stewardship: Update, validate, and maintain localized cost structures, regional pricing differences, and market trends within internal databases.
  • Technical Documentation: Clearly document all research findings, cost assumptions, calculations, and compliance rules (building codes, occupancy classifications).
Job Qualifications:

Qualifications
  • Experience: 4-6 years of hands-on experience in construction management, estimating, cost analysis, or project supervision.
  • Industry Knowledge: Deep understanding of residential, commercial, and agricultural construction methods, trade sequencing, and materials.
  • Analytical Skills: Proven ability to analyze large datasets, calculate productivity rates/unit costs, and use Microsoft Excel.
  • Communication: Strong verbal and written skills for cross-functional collaboration and clear documentation of data logic.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Gather, analyze, validate, and maintain roofing-related material and labor cost data.
  • Support other key building material and construction cost areas as needed.
  • Ensure data accurately reflects current market conditions.
  • Verify that data aligns with proper construction methodologies.
  • Maintain appropriate estimating assumptions.

Annual Pay Range:
67,000 - 72,800 USD
