About This Role
A leading automotive manufacturer is hiring a Construction Cost Estimator to develop project estimates for construction, renovation, and improvements of industrial and commercial buildings in Georgetown, KY (100% onsite, local candidates preferred). You will estimate from simple improvements up to greenfield design and construction, create conceptual budgetary estimates and CSI MasterFormat bid proposals, analyze contractor bids for scope gaps, and build historical cost data, collaborating with executives, technical experts, and construction managers.
Responsibilities
Develop project estimates for building construction, renovation, and improvements of industrial and commercial buildings
Estimate across the range from simple improvements to existing systems up to design and construction of greenfield sites
Perform cost analysis of proposed or recently completed projects using conceptual designs or engineered drawings
Create budgetary estimates from a conceptual scope of work with very few drawings available
Create bid proposals using CSI MasterFormat from drawing packages and models, and analyze contractor bids to locate scope gaps
Develop unit costs from current and historical projects and support estimating-software development
Support other Planning group members with similar project cost estimations
Collaborate with all levels, including executive managers, technical experts, and construction managers

Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, or Construction Management (or equivalent)
3 to 10 years of project estimating for construction in industrial and/or commercial buildings, including commercial and renovation work (10 plus years not preferred)
Technical knowledge of design/building construction engineering and schedule management
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
Ability to create conceptual budgetary estimates with very few drawings, and CSI MasterFormat bid proposals from drawing packages
Ability to analyze contractor bids for scope gaps and to build historical project cost data
Willing to work onsite in Georgetown, KY (local preferred), travel about 10% (domestic and international), and work about 25% overtime; shop-floor access with steel-toed shoes above the ankle
Preferred: estimating software (ProEst, Acubid, Planswift, RSMeans); MS Office and AutoCAD/Bluebeam take-off; 2 plus years on projects over $10M; AACE Class 5/4/2 estimates; PMI/CSI certification; construction-safety knowledge
