Construction Crew Leader

AmeriCorps National members serve the community in direct service and capacity building activities.
What will you do?
The construction crew leader plays an integral part in building and repairing homes. Lead groups of skills and unskilled volunteers and homeowner families in construction activities while maintaining a safe, efficient work environment, thus, developing and enhancing your volunteer management and construction skills.
This position will focus on home construction aspects of Habitat affiliate operations.
Where will you serve?
Activities and attractions: Chapel Hill offers the unique advantage of being centrally located between North Carolina's mountains and coast, with Atlantic beaches approximately 2.5 hours to the east and the Blue Ridge Mountains about 3 hours to the west. As a vibrant college town and home to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, the community provides a wide range of amenities, including restaurants, arts and cultural events, local shops, parks, and recreational opportunities. The area is also known for its thriving and diverse food scene, featuring everything from award-winning local restaurants and food trucks to international cuisine and farm-to-table dining. Raleigh and Durham are within a 20- to 30-minute drive and expand access to the Research Triangle's museums, historic sites, greenways, performing arts venues, sporting events, and diverse communities. The region is known for its innovation, higher education institutions, natural beauty, and year-round activities. There is always something to do!
Unique projects: The AmeriCorps Home Repair Construction Crew Leader will support Habitat for Humanity of Orange County's Home Preservation Program, a unique initiative designed to help low-income homeowners maintain safe, healthy, and affordable housing. Rather than focusing solely on immediate repair needs, the program takes a comprehensive approach by assessing the overall condition of a home and addressing both critical repairs and preventative maintenance needs.
When will you serve?
Start dates are flexible and based on this location's availability. Talk to the hiring manager for this position about start dates during your interview process. The start date will be 4-6 weeks from receiving an offer and no earlier than September 2026.
