CLMI Group is a leading construction management and owner's representative firm supporting some of Southern California's most critical public infrastructure programs. We are currently seeking an experienced Construction Document Control Specialist to support the County of Los Angeles, Department of Public Works – Recovery Division on a full-time, on-site staff extension basis.
What You'll Do
- Process and facilitate public inquiries, plan check submissions, and general correspondence in coordination with County plan checkers and permit technicians
- Screen permit applications for completeness, including Title 24, architectural, and structural plan requirements
- Track submission backlogs and provide real-time status updates on submitted plans and applications
- Establish and maintain project document filing systems (both digital and hard file) in accordance with County procedures
- Enter and track plan submittals, permit applications, review turnaround times, plan status, and payment status across all active logs
- Prepare reports and written correspondence in accordance with County standards
- Maintain all document control logs, records, and correspondence with precision and consistency
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of document control experience in the construction industry
- Prior experience working with public agencies or government entities
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and the full Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong detail orientation with excellent organization, coordination, and deadline management skills
- Clear, professional written and verbal communication skills; ability to interface with County personnel, contractors, and the public
- Experience preparing and reviewing written correspondence for grammar, formatting, and accuracy
- Proven ability to manage high-volume, fast-paced workloads with shifting priorities
Preferred:
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans and drawings
- Experience with OneDrive, SharePoint, and/or Sharefile
- Familiarity with project control platforms such as Procore, Aconex, or ProjectWise

The offered rate of compensation will be based on a variety of non-discriminatory factors, including education, qualifications, experience, and geographic location. The salary range for this position is $70,000-$77,000.
