Job Responsibilities for the Construction Estimator:
Review architectural drawings, structural plans, and project specifications to identify potential issues or costs.
Review projects before bidding to understand the scope of work, requirements, and potential risks.
Calculate the materials, labor, and other costs needed to complete a project.
Work with Project Managers to evaluate design changes and determine the cost of change orders.
Maintain a database of historical material, labor, and regional pricing information.
Communicate with subcontractors and suppliers to get accurate pricing and confirm the work they will perform.
Prepare detailed and competitive project bids and proposals for clients.
Create preliminary project schedules to determine if the project can be completed successfully and on time.
Attend pre-bid meetings and visit job sites to understand project conditions and identify potential risks.
Qualifications for the Construction Estimator:
Bachelor’s degree preferred in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, Quantity Surveying, or a related technical field.
Demonstrated success driving commercial estimating cycles within the commercial or civil construction sectors.
Master-level capability in deconstructing complex engineering documents, regulatory codes, and structural schematics.
Advanced aptitude in applied mathematics, data analytics, and predictive cost-forecasting methodologies.
Elite proficiency in advanced Microsoft Excel modeling alongside specialized construction estimating platforms.
Exceptional ability to distill complex, data-heavy inputs into clear, actionable financial insights for leadership.
Elite communication skills, rigorous time management, and a self-directed work ethic suited for high-stakes environments.
