Construction Estimator - Banking Industry Construction - Base Salary to 100k/year - Arlington Heights, IL

• Our client, an established commercial general contractor, is seeking a Construction Estimator to join their team in Arlington Heights, IL. The company specializes in commercial construction projects ranging from renovations and remodels to ground-up construction.
• In this role, the Construction Estimator will manage commercial construction estimating and preconstruction activities, including quantity takeoffs, cost estimating, bid preparation, subcontractor pricing, scope review, and analysis of architectural and structural drawings. This position works closely with Project Management and Operations teams throughout the preconstruction process and requires occasional travel to project sites, including infrequent out-of-state travel.

Responsibilities:

• Review and analyze blueprints, architectural and structural drawings, plans, specifications, proposals, scopes of work, and other construction documentation
• Perform quantity takeoffs and calculate labor, equipment, and material costs for commercial construction projects
• Prepare time, cost, labor, material, and equipment estimates for projects and services
• Prepare commercial construction bids for design-build, construction management, and hard bid projects
• Coordinate subcontractor bids, including preparing bid invitations, reviewing bids for scope and pricing, scheduling site visits, obtaining subcontractor and supplier pricing, and developing bid presentations
• Perform scope reviews and evaluate subcontractor bids for completeness and alignment with project requirements
• Work with Operations and Project Management teams throughout the preconstruction and estimating process
• Coordinate with subcontractors and suppliers throughout the bidding process
• Attend pre-bid meetings and project site visits
• Prepare project documentation, material release schedules, client information, project schedules, and supporting information for Project Managers
• Travel to project sites as necessary to collect measurements, photographs, and project information

Qualifications:

• 2+ years of construction estimating experience required
• Commercial construction estimating experience required
• Experience with design-build, construction management, and hard bid projects
• Experience performing construction takeoffs, cost estimates, bid preparation, and subcontractor bid analysis
• Experience reading, analyzing, and interpreting construction plans and specifications within bid time frames
• Experience with architectural and structural drawings
• Experience coordinating with and building relationships with subcontractors
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel
• Ability to work full time in the Arlington Heights office, with one day per week from home once established
• Ability to occasionally travel to project sites in other states

Compensation:

• Base salary in the 85k - 100k/year range
