Job DetailsPosition Summary
The Estimator plays a key role in the preconstruction process by developing accurate project budgets, performing quantity takeoffs, analyzing subcontractor proposals, identifying value engineering opportunities, and collaborating with operations teams to successfully position projects for execution. This individual will work closely with project managers, owners, architects, engineers, and trade partners throughout the estimating lifecycle.
Responsibilities
- Prepare conceptual, schematic, design development, and final construction estimates.
- Perform quantity takeoffs and detailed cost analysis.
- Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier pricing.
- Develop bid packages and manage the bidding process.
- Assist with value engineering and constructability reviews.
- Support budgeting and cost planning efforts during preconstruction.
- Analyze drawings, specifications, and project documents for scope completeness.
- Participate in client meetings and presentations.
- Maintain historical cost databases and estimating resources.
- Work closely with project management teams to ensure a seamless transition from preconstruction to construction.
Desired Qualifications
- 3+ years of construction estimating, preconstruction, or project engineering experience with a commercial general contractor.
- Experience estimating projects in one or more of the following sectors: commercial, healthcare, industrial, manufacturing, education, multifamily, or institutional construction.
- Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and systems.
- Ability to read and interpret construction documents and specifications.
- Experience with quantity takeoff and estimating software.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field preferred.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and analytical abilities.
