Nautilus Construction is a residential construction company based in Wells, ME, specializing in custom builds, renovations, and additions throughout southern Maine. We're detail-driven, client-focused, and built on integrity.
We're looking for a Construction Estimator to support our preconstruction process -- from initial plan review through bid submission.
What You'll Do
- Assist lead estimator with detailed material takeoffs from plans and specs
- Solicit and track subcontractor and supplier pricing
- Maintain bid files, vendor quotes, and cost documentation
- Perform field measurements and site visits to verify scope
- Enter and maintain cost data in Excel and Google Sheets
- Support preparation of proposals and bid packages
- Attend preconstruction meetings; document notes and follow-ups
- Assist with change order pricing and budget tracking
- Support project handoffs from preconstruction to field team
What You Need
- 1-3 years in construction estimating, takeoffs, or project coordination
- Working knowledge of residential construction methods and sequencing
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) and Google Sheets
- Strong attention to detail -- manage multiple bids at once
- Ability to read architectural plans and specifications
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Self-motivated and able to work independently
- Valid driver's license + reliable transportation for site visits
Preferred:
- Experience with Hover, Bluebeam, or similar estimating/CRM software
- Background in framing, finish carpentry, or general contracting
- Familiarity with Maine building codes and permitting
- Associate's or Bachelor's in Construction Management
Salary & Benefits
- Full-time, Monday-Friday
- Primarily office-based in Kennebunk, ME with occasional site visits
