WSP is currently initiating a search for a Construction Inspector to help oversee road, bridge, or associated construction with construction values ranging from $1-$50 million. This position can be based out of Portland, Augusta, or Eliot, ME, or Merrimack, NH.

Job Description

The inspector, depending on experience, will oversee various work elements from excavation, backfilling, compaction, cast-in-place concrete from formwork to reinforcement, installation of precast elements, bridge seats, bearings, and joints, bridge rail, drainage, paving, and other incidental items. The inspector will report to the Resident Engineer, or their designee.

Responsibilities

  • Interfacing with contractors and supervisors to determine and monitor daily work.
  • Complete daily reports, measure, and calculate unit price quantities.
  • Help coordinate independent material sampling and testing, or periodically perform the same.
  • Monitor maintenance of traffic.
  • Take and compile photographs, for tracking of daily progress.
  • Helping update red-line drawings using Bluebeam.
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources, and conduct, and adhere to WSPs Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.

Required Requirements

High School Diploma 5 years applicable experience Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills Ability to learn how to read plans and specifications, or the aptitude to learn Have a valid drivers license Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSPs health, safety, and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.

Preferred Requirements

Associate of Science degree in Engineering or Construction Management, or related field Average proficiency with MS WORD Suite Hands-on experience with construction management software such as Site or Field Manager, APPIA, Procore, IPD, or similar systems Knowledge of Bluebeam ACI, NETTCP certification, or ability to attain within 3 months of hiring Any combination of college education, professional licenses, certifications, and experience will be considered.
