Procedures are established and a number of specific guidelines are available, requiring judgment in locating and selecting the most appropriate methods, techniques and procedures to apply to specific cases. Solves routine or recurring problems and identifies and suggests solutions to more complex problems. Work is reviewed in progress and upon completion for technical accuracy and compliance with policies and procedures. Regular contact with individuals in other work groups, contractors and customers is required to obtain, clarify or provide information. Required to rotate, as assigned, between customer service functions and construction inspection tasks.

  • Inspects site rehabilitation work performed by contractors.
  • Assists contractors, as required, in completing the work.
  • Shovels dirt and operates hand pumps at construction sites.
  • Performs testing of utility systems installed by contractors in accordance with JEA specifications and State of Florida regulations and codes.
  • Ensures construction sites are safe and not hazardous to the public.
  • Takes pictures of construction sites for future reference.
  • Interprets contract documents.
  • Responds to customer complaints and resolves issues between JEA work crews and contractors.
  • Performs routing and scheduling tasks to manage work tickets and coordinate workload.
  • Completes inspection documentation and updates systems of record with information.
  • Validate footage measurements for work submitted to the contractor.
  • Inspect the finished work product for accuracy and correct billing per the unit bid pricing in the contract.
  • Attends safety meetings, complies with safety rules and regulations and employs safe work practices.
  • Operates standard office equipment and uses required software applications, including data tracking systems.

OPEN REQUIREMENTS:

High School diploma or equivalent and a minimum of three (3) years utility construction and/or utility inspection experience. Customer service experience preferred.

A valid driver''s license is required prior to employment in this class and must be maintained during employment in this classification.

Completion of FDOT Traffic Intermediate Level course is required within one (1) year of employment.
