Description
The City of Richmond Department of Public Works is seeking highly qualified candidates to fill the position of Construction Inspector, Senior in the Division of Right-of-Way Management. The incumbent is responsible for inspecting private and public construction and development projects to ensure compliance in accordance with applicable codes, plans, and specifications.
Duties include but are not limited to
City of Richmond Department of Public Works employees who work in this position are considered essential personnel and may be required to work beyond scheduled hours, during inclement weather, and during declared emergencies.

ENVIRONMENTAL HAZARDS: The job involves frequent exposure to hazardous physical conditions (mechanical parts, electrical currents, vibrations, etc.), atmospheric conditions (fumes, odors, dusts gases, poor ventilation), extreme temperatures, and intense noise. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT: Due to the nature of work assignments, incumbents must be able to perform detailed work on multiple, concurrent tasks, with frequent interruptions and under time constraint. While performing the essential duties of this job, the employee is regularly balance, kneel, crouch, reach extending arms and hands in any direction (daily, none), stand, walk, finger (pick, pinch, type or otherwise work primarily with fingers), feeling (e.g. perceiving attributes of objects such as size, shape, temperature or texture), talk, see, hear and feel repetitive motion of the wrists, hands and fingers. The employee is frequently required to climb, crouch, and grasp applying pressure to an object with fingers or palms. In terms of the physical strength to perform the essential duties, this classification is considered to be medium work, exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
