Position Overview

As a Construction Inspector, you will perform daily field inspection for roadway, bridge, and interchange construction, verify work meets contract plans/specifications, and maintain accurate project documentation. Key Responsibilities

  • Inspect highway corridor improvements, including bridges, interchanges, roadway reconstruction, drainage, retaining walls, signing/ITS, lighting, pavement, and pavement markings, in accordance with plans and specifications.

  • Observe construction staging and Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) setups (lane shifts, detours, ramp changes, temporary patterns) and promptly report field conflicts and safety concerns.
  • Support QA/QC and acceptance testing: coordinate sampling/testing (earthwork, aggregate, asphalt, concrete), review available QC documentation, and verify corrective actions are completed.
  • Measure and track quantities for pay items; maintain daily reports, diaries, field measurements, and photo documentation to support estimates and project records.
  • Identify constructability, schedule, and utility conflicts; communicate observations to the project team and support timely field resolutions.
  • Participate in progress, coordination, and safety meetings as assigned; provide inspection updates and highlight risks/items requiring attention.
  • Promote work-zone safety and environmental compliance (erosion and sediment controls, stormwater protections) and verify contractor adherence to project safety requirements.

Required Qualifications
