Construction Laborer opportunities!

Irish Creek is looking for motivated Laborers for full time employment on industrial, commercial and residential Excavation and General Construction projects. Applicants should have residential and commercial construction industry experience and access to reliable transportation to our Headquarters and Shop in Reading, PA. Experience in concrete finishing, blacktop work and carpentry is preferred. The ideal candidates will be capable of working well with a team of other laborers and operators, communicate clear directions and project details to other site team members and project management, be capable of working with minimal oversight and also be able to follow directions closely. Additionally, he or she should be familiar with construction, excavation and pipeline safety standards and procedures to ensure project security. High school diploma or GED preferred.

Laborer Responsibilities:

• Lift heavy loads up to 70 lbs and navigate construction job site terrain.
• Shovel and rake fill and stone for site excavations.
• Prep, form and pour concrete for foundations, sidewalks, pads, etc.
• Identify utility lines.
• Perform setup and cleanup tasks at job site.
• Use and read a tape measure, operate a site laser.
• Perform light rough and finish carpentry work.
• Clearly document and write down work completed on Daily Time Sheets.
• Be familiar with the processes of site grading, utility installation, foundation excavation and backfill.
• Be familiar with residential and commercial construction job sites and be able to perform light carpentry and demolition tasks in a safe and knowledgeable manner.
• Direct traffic when necessary to ensure safety of pedestrians, motorists and work crew.
• Provide labor support as needed for specialty crew.

Laborer skills:

• High school diploma/GED preferred.
• Experience in excavation, paving, carpentry, and/or pipeline work is preferred.·
• 2+ years’ construction industry experience preferred.
• Basic understanding of construction principles and procedures.
• Comfortable working outdoors.
• Complete basic math and be able to read a tape measure.
• Enjoy learning new and different tasks daily.
• Pre employment screening required.
