Construction Manager – Small Cell / Node (Hybrid)

Location: Chandler, AZ (Phoenix Metro Area)
Schedule: Hybrid – 60% Office / 40% Field
Hours: Monday–Friday, 7:30 AM – 4:30 PM (AZ Time)
Travel: Occasional travel to Nevada (NV) and New Mexico (NM)
Pay Rate: $42/hr


Overview

We are seeking a Construction Manager – Small Cell / Node to support network construction projects across the Phoenix market. This role is responsible for managing field construction activities, vendor coordination, and project delivery for small cell and fiber deployments.

This is a hybrid position, requiring a mix of office-based coordination and field oversight. The ideal candidate will have experience in small cell/node construction, OSP fiber, and project management, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while ensuring timelines, budgets, and quality standards are met.


Key Responsibilities

  • Manage multiple small cell and fiber construction projects from planning through completion
  • Create and distribute work packages to vendors and contractors
  • Coordinate construction schedules, field activities, and inspections
  • Monitor project timelines, deliverables, and budgets to ensure on-time delivery
  • Communicate project updates clearly and proactively to internal stakeholders
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Permitting, Regulatory, Operations, and Project Delivery teams
  • Resolve field construction issues and escalate risks before critical impact
  • Track project KPIs including on-time install, fiber completion, and safety metrics
  • Maintain accurate project documentation, reporting, and tracking systems
  • Support vendor management, including performance, timelines, and compliance

Financial & Administrative Responsibilities

  • Create and manage purchase orders (POs)
  • Process contractor invoices and track payment status
  • Support forecasting, budgeting, and milestone tracking
  • Monitor and resolve past-due invoices
  • Provide reporting on project financials and variances

Technical Responsibilities

  • Interpret fiber and small cell construction drawings and designs
  • Oversee OSP fiber construction (bore, trench, aerial, leased duct)
  • Manage node and power installation (foundations, poles, RF components)
  • Understand metered power delivery for small cell sites
  • Ensure compliance with 811 utility locate processes and safe excavation practices
  • Utilize tools such as Excel and Smartsheets for tracking and reporting

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Valid driver's license
  • Minimum 3+ years of telecommunications/wireless construction experience
  • Experience with:
    • Small cell and node construction
    • OSP fiber construction (aerial & underground)
    • Construction drawings and design interpretation
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and project tracking tools (e.g., Smartsheets)

Preferred Qualifications

  • OSHA 10 certification (preferred)
  • Experience with test equipment (OTDR, PIM, Sweep testing)
  • Familiarity with NESC, NEC, and OSHA standards
