Network Construction Project Manager – Fiber & Small Cell

Pay Rate: $42
Location:
Phoenix, AZ (with occasional travel to NV and NM)
Schedule: Hybrid – approx. 60% in office / 40% field
Hours: Monday–Friday, 7:30 AM–4:30 PM (AZ Time)
Travel: Regional field travel required (mileage reimbursed)


Overview

We are seeking an experienced Network Construction Project Manager to support fiber and small cell deployment projects in the Phoenix market. This role includes field construction oversight, vendor coordination, scheduling, project financial tracking, and progress reporting. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with fiber/OSP construction, node installations, and small cell deployments, and is comfortable working both in the field and in an office environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee multiple fiber and small cell construction projects simultaneously.

  • Develop and issue work packages and construction scopes to vendors.

  • Coordinate construction schedules, field activities, and site readiness.

  • Conduct field visits including pre-construction walks, in-progress checks, punch walks, and close-out inspections.

  • Communicate regularly with contractors, inspectors, municipalities, and internal teams.

  • Resolve construction issues in the field to maintain schedule and budget.

  • Track project deliverables, milestones, and timelines; escalate delays when needed.

  • Submit and manage purchase orders; review and process vendor invoices.

  • Support project financials including forecasting and milestone billing.

  • Maintain accurate reporting in project tracking systems.

  • Prepare service delivery and close-out documentation.

  • Participate in cross-functional team meetings and provide status reporting.


Required Skills & Experience

  • 3+ years of telecommunications or wireless construction experience.

  • Strong understanding of OSP fiber construction (bore, trench, aerial, conduit, leased duct).

  • Experience with small cell and node construction, including power installation and RF component installation.

  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, site plans, redlines, and as-builts.

  • Understanding of metered power coordination for small cell deployments.

  • Familiarity with 811 utility locate processes and safe excavation practices.

  • Experience managing vendors or construction crews on active build sites.

  • Proficiency in Excel and Smartsheets.


Preferred Experience

  • Familiarity with OTDR, PIM, SWEEP test equipment and validation methods.

  • Working knowledge of NESC, NEC, OSHA construction standards.

  • Strong documentation, reporting, and communication skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks across multiple simultaneous projects.


Education & Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.

  • Valid driver's license required.

  • OSHA 10 certification preferred.


Work Environment

  • Field (40%): Active construction environments with heavy equipment.

  • Office (60%): Standard business environment with computer workstation.
