Construction Manager-Level 2 - Experienced (6 - 10 Years)

Location: Midwest, United States (Onsite)

Role Overview

The Construction Manager is responsible for the safe and successful execution of utility-scale Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) and associated Substation construction projects. This role spans from pre-construction through commissioning and turnover. Serving as the owners onsite representative, the Construction Manager ensures contractors execute work in accordance with contract documents, engineering requirements, company standards, and safety, budget, schedule, and quality objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead field execution while coordinating with Engineering, Development, Supply Chain, Environmental, and Commissioning teams.
  • Coordinate and manage construction work performed by contractors and vendors at the project site.
  • Assess productivity, schedule compliance, work quality, and safety performance on the project.
  • Manage walk-downs of planned work and validate acceptance of completed work to design requirements.
  • Approve contractor payment requests and verify constructability.
  • Ensure proper resource allocations, assess field status, and resolve issues as needed.
  • Oversee scope control, budget oversight, performance reporting, schedules, and work in progress.
  • Provide leadership and coaching to Construction Supervisors and supplemental workforce.
  • Survey and observe contractor Safety, Health, and Environment (SHE) practices, providing coaching and direction as needed.
  • Lead commissioning projects, ensuring compliance with regulatory and safety requirements.

Required Qualifications

Education: An Associate or Bachelors degree in Engineering, Power Generation, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

Experience: 6 - 10 years of experience in power plant commissioning, working with EPC Contractors, engineering firms, and equipment suppliers. 8-10 years of experience is preferred.

Technical Skills: A strong understanding of engineering principles related to power plant commissioning. Proficiency in Word.

Additional Information

Driving will be required as part of this positions duties. A valid, non-restricted drivers license is necessary. Per Diem and Mob/De-Mob expenses are available for this role.
