Job Description:

Construction Manager-Level 3 - Senior (11 - 15 Years)

Location: Wingate, Texas (Onsite)

Role Overview

The Construction Manager serves as the field leader responsible for the safe, efficient, and successful execution of substation and transmission construction projects. Acting as the primary liaison between field activities and the General Manager, the Construction Manager ensures adherence to engineering design, contract requirements, environmental regulations, safety standards, and project schedules. This role involves approximately 20% office responsibilities and 80% field oversight.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and understand all contract documents, engineering packages, drawings, and specifications.
  • Ensure adherence to the project schedule, monitor milestones and the critical path, and escalate any delays.
  • Manage materials by confirming delivery and storage, verifying specifications, and tracking any shortages or damages.
  • Enforce safety protocols, encourage a proactive safety culture, and conduct daily safety meetings.
  • Provide field oversight by conducting daily walkdowns to ensure compliance with specifications and document project progress.
  • Oversee fiscal aspects by tracking variances, reviewing invoices, and identifying cost drivers.
  • Ensure contractor compliance with the contract and address any non-conformances.
  • Maintain strong relationships with contractors and communicate effectively with the Project Manager.
  • Coordinate with environmental, safety, subject matter expert, and land teams.
  • Provide leadership and coaching to Construction Supervisors and supplemental workforce members.

Required Qualifications

Education: An Associate or Bachelors degree in Engineering, Power Generation, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

Experience: 11 to 15 years of experience in power plant commissioning, working with EPC Contractors, engineering firms, and equipment suppliers. Experience in substation or industrial construction is required.

Skills: A strong understanding of engineering drawings and principles related to power plant commissioning is necessary. Candidates must have proficiency with computers, including Microsoft Word, and possess strong communication and leadership abilities. Knowledge of safety and environmental requirements is also required.

Work Requirements

Driving will be required as part of this positions duties. A valid, non-restricted drivers license is necessary. A driving record validation will be conducted to confirm no alcohol or drug-related driving offenses within the previous five years and that the license is not currently suspended or restricted.
