    Habitat for Humanity – Construction Manager
    Location: On Site/Hybrid
    Status: Part-Time As Required
    Schedule: Flexible schedule including evenings and weekends may be required to meet the needs of the company.


    Reports to: Executive Director
    About Us:
    Habitat for Humanity of Rockland is dedicated to building homes, communities, and hope. We partner with local families and volunteers to create affordable housing solutions that transform lives. We are seeking a hands-on, mission-driven Construction Site Manager to help bring our construction projects to life-from blueprint to final certificate of occupancy.


    Position Summary:
    The Construction Manager works closely with staff, volunteers, subcontractors, inspectors, and vendors, serving as the central point of communication throughout the build process. This position requires strong leadership, organization, and the ability to manage multiple moving parts while fostering a positive, productive environment for volunteers and partner families. The Construction Manager oversees the day to day operations of Habitat Rockland’s residential construction projects and manages all onsite activities from planning through completion. This role is responsible for preparing and breaking down sites for build days, coordinating daily tasks, and ensuring that each project is executed safely, efficiently, and in alignment with Habitat’s quality standards.

    Key Responsibilities:
    Construction Oversight and Management :

    ● Manage all phases of construction for the new home.
    ● Ensure work meets quality, safety, and code standards (local, HFHI, and OSHA).
    ● Must complete Habitat for Humanity International’s Competent Person certification within the first 7 days of employment.
    ● Maintain construction timelines and ensure projects are completed on schedule.
    ● Monitor project budgets; review invoices and track expenses to ensure cost control.
    ● Order materials and schedule deliveries with help from support staff ; coordinate labor and subcontracted work.
    ● Lead or delegate daily safety/toolbox meetings with volunteers and workers.
    ● Develop and effectively implement a master schedule.
    ● Coordinate architectural and engineering design in collaboration with Build Team.

    ● Oversee work of Build Captains and volunteers.
    ● Coordinate and oversee subcontractors.
    ● Schedule and attend required construction site inspections.
    ● Receives and inventories deliveries of construction material.
    ● Maintains a safe work environment by adherence to OSHA and Habitat for Humanity of Rockland.

    Volunteer Engagement & Supervision:
    ● Train, supervise, and support volunteers and skilled labor on the job site.
    ● Foster an inclusive, safe, and fun work environment where everyone feels valued.
    ● Ensure all volunteers receive safety orientation and job-specific instruction.

    Communication & Coordination:
    ● Collaborate with the Build Team and Family Selection Team.
    ● Maintain strong relationships with inspectors, municipal departments, and vendors.
    ● Provide regular project updates to leadership and participate in staff meetings.


    General Duties:
    ● Maintain clean, organized job sites with secure storage of tools and materials.
    ● Keep accurate records of progress, materials used, hours worked, and incidents.
    ● Ensure compliance with all insurance, permit, and inspection requirements.
    ● Contribute to developing annual build schedules and long-term construction plans.

    Preferred Qualifications:
    ● 5 years experience in residential construction management or similar role.
    ● Ability to read construction drawings, scopes of work, and technical specs.
    ● Experience working with various governmental agencies.
    ● Effective manager of subcontractors and the associated schedules

    ● Possess leadership qualities that promote teamwork and the capacity to balance team and individual responsibilities
    ● Comfortable managing volunteers, groups and inexperienced individuals in the building process
    ● Ability to identify and drive objectives
    ● Select Saturdays per month to be on site with volunteers.
    ● Excellent organizational and leadership skills.
    ● Strong communication skills (verbal and written); bilingual a plus.
    ● Familiarity with OSHA regulations.
    ● Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace, construction scheduling software, and/or mobile apps.
    ● Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.


    Physical Requirements:
    ● Ability to lift 50 lbs and perform physical labor in varying weather conditions.
    ● Comfort using hand and power tools; must follow all safety procedures.
