Construction Manager

Position Summary

The Construction Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, and directing all field construction activities associated with specialty welding, fabrication, mechanical, and industrial construction projects. This role ensures projects are executed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in full compliance with customer specifications, company standards, and applicable codes and regulations. As the primary field leader, the Construction Manager works closely with project managers, superintendents, clients, subcontractors, and craft personnel to ensure safe, high-quality, and efficient project delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead all field construction activities, ensuring adherence to project plans, schedules, and quality standards.
• Oversee on-site safety performance and enforce company safety policies and regulatory requirements.
• Coordinate closely with project managers to monitor progress, control costs, and resolve field-related issues.
• Manage subcontractor performance, ensuring alignment with scope, schedule, and quality expectations.
• Provide field leadership to superintendents and craft teams, fostering collaboration and productivity.
• Review and validate construction drawings, specifications, and work plans.
• Support development and maintenance of project schedules and resource plans.
• Ensure compliance with customer standards, company procedures, and all applicable codes and regulations.
• Interface directly with clients to maintain communication, address concerns, and support strong customer relationships.
• Identify and mitigate project risks related to field execution.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of construction processes and field operations.

Qualifications

• Experience in mechanical, electrical, industrial, or specialty construction environments required.
• Prior leadership of field craft teams, superintendents, or subcontractors.
• Strong understanding of welding, fabrication, mechanical systems, or industrial construction practices.
• Knowledge of safety regulations, construction codes, and industry standards.
• Demonstrated ability to manage schedules, budgets, and field execution plans.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and problem‑solving abilities.

Physical & Travel Requirements

• Ability to work on active construction and industrial job sites, including walking, standing, climbing, bending, and reaching for extended periods.
• Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 lbs. occasionally and up to 25 lbs. frequently.
• Must be able to climb ladders, scaffolding, and navigate uneven or elevated work surfaces.
• Ability to work in various environmental conditions, including heat, cold, humidity, noise, and exposure to dust or industrial materials.
• Ability to read construction drawings, inspect work, and observe safety hazards in the field.
• Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including hard hat, safety glasses, steel‑toe boots, gloves, fall protection, and respiratory protection when required.
• Must be able to operate or work around machinery, tools, and heavy equipment safely.
• Ability to travel to project sites nationwide, sometimes for extended durations.
• Ability to effectively communicate in noisy or active work environments.
