Construction Manager
4+ month contract
Hope Bay Mine Site, Nunavut, Canada (full time onsite coverage, add 2 weeks on/off schedule with expenses per diem paid)
$65-$85 an hour

The Construction Manager will provide full-time, on-site construction management services for the installation and commissioning support of companies containerized emulsion plant at Agnico Eagle's Hope Bay Mine. Successful candidate will act as companies field representative, coordinating construction activities between company, Agnico Eagle, and multiple subcontractors while ensuring the project is executed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with approved engineering standards and mine site requirements. This position requires working at a remote Arctic mine site under rotational schedules with full compliance to Agnico Eagle onboarding, safety, and fatigue management requirements. Monitor mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and civil subcontractor performance. Ensure construction activities are completed safely and in accordance with project specifications, drawings, and approved procedures. Maintain a strong safety presence and reinforce compliance with all mine safety requirements. Attend and participate in daily toolbox talks, stand-up meetings, planning sessions, and coordination meetings. Track construction progress and provide routine reports to the companies Project Manager. Identify schedule risks and develop mitigation strategies. Review contractor schedules and monitor progress against project milestones. Review Requests for Information (RFIs), field changes, and change orders. Assist with evaluating and pricing construction change orders. Support project cost tracking, forecasting, and budget management. Coordinate contractor invoices, progress claims, and project documentation. Maintain complete construction records including daily reports, photographs, deficiencies, and punch lists. Coordinate inspections, testing, turnover documentation, and project closeout activities.
Requirements:

  • 10+ years of industrial construction management experience
  • Minimum 5 years managing mining, heavy industrial, or processing plant construction projects
  • Previous experience working on remote mine sites
  • Experience managing mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation contractors
  • Strong understanding of industrial construction sequencing and installation practices
  • Experience with modular or containerized process plants
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating multiple subcontractors simultaneously
  • Working knowledge of project scheduling (Primavera P6 and/or Microsoft Project)
  • Experience reviewing RFIs, submittals, change orders, and field directives
  • Strong cost control and project reporting experience
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to produce clear daily, weekly, and monthly progress reports
  • Valid passport and ability to travel within Canada
  • Ability to obtain all required Agnico Eagle site access and security clearances
  • Ability to complete all required mine orientation and safety training
  • Ability to work rotational schedules in remote Arctic environments
  • Physically capable of working in extreme cold-weather conditions
