Description
Oxford Solutions is seeking a Construction Materials Inspector for a contract-to-hire opportunity supporting active construction projects in Columbus, OH. This is an onsite, field-based position with frequent travel to project locations.
Candidates may be based in the Columbus area or near Pittsburgh, PA, provided they are comfortable traveling regularly to Columbus. Future assignments are expected to include projects in the Pittsburgh region.
The ideal candidate is a dependable self-starter with experience performing construction materials testing and documenting field conditions. Candidates with multiple industry certifications may be considered for the higher end of the compensation range.
Responsibilities
Perform field testing and inspection of soils, concrete, asphalt, structural steel, and related construction materials
Document field observations, test results, and project activity
Communicate inspection findings to project managers, contractors, and subcontractors
Transport material samples for laboratory testing and analysis
Prepare field reports and technical documentation
Travel to construction sites throughout the Columbus area
Qualifications
Previous construction inspection, materials testing, geotechnical, or environmental field experience
Nuclear Density Gauge Operator certification
ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician Grade I certification
Strong communication, organization, and report-writing skills
Ability to work independently and manage changing field priorities
Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel regularly
Preferred Experience and Certifications
5+ years of construction inspection or materials testing experience
Multiple ICC Special Inspector certifications are highly preferred
