Construction Inspection

Job Description:
Seeking Construction Materials Testing Technicians to support construction projects around Central Ohio. This Engineering firm is an industry-leader in construction inspection and testing for a diverse range of projects. The Technician is responsible for performing various tests and inspections on building materials such as concrete, soil, asphalt, aggregates, and more to ensure they meet project specifications and codes. These activities will be performed in the field on building construction & infrastructure job sites. Must be comfortable working on a construction site outdoors in various weather conditions. Will be traveling locally in company truck or personal vehicle depending on availability.
Responsibilities:
• Perform material testing of concrete, soils, aggregates, and/ or asphalt at the time of placement on an active construction site.
• Interpret specifications and working drawings.
• Field inspection, testing, sampling, equipment, and equipment maintenance on assigned project.
• Obtain and record field data, in a legible and organized fashion; as required by the plans, specifications, or project staff. Generate and compile field reports.
• Record daily installed construction quantities.
• Speak with team members on a construction site, including the contractor and owner's representatives.
Skills & Qualifications
Must Haves:
-Prior construction experience is strongly preferred; comfortability on job site, ability to read/ interpret specifications and drawings, etc.
-Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions
-Willingness to travel as required
-Willingness/ ability to work variable schedule depending on workload, weather, etc.
-High school diploma
-Valid drivers license with clean driving record
Nice to have:
-Prior construction materials testing experience for ODOT or private development projects
-ODOT Asphalt Level 2 Technician or other relevant ODOT inspection certifications
-American Concrete Institute (ACI): Field Testing Technician, Aggregate Testing Technician, Concrete Strength Testing Technician
-Nuclear Gauge, NICET and other relevant CMT certifications

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Columbus, OH.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $30.00/hr.
