POSITION SCOPE AND ORGANIZATIONAL IMPACTPirtle Construction is currently seeking a talented Construction Project Accountant to join our South Florida team, supporting active construction projects and working closely with project management and ownership. This role is responsible for managing project financials, processing pay applications and implementing cost controls from project initiation to closeout.The positions collaborate with the project team to manage and resolve billing matters throughout the construction of large-scale education, residential, municipal, and commercial projects.ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESSet up and maintain job budgets & cost codesReview and code supplier invoices related to a projectCommunicate with and assist subcontractors in submitting accurate monthly draws for billingEnsure subcontractor compliance is complete before approving monthly drawsAuthorize and complete the transfer of expenses in and out of project related accountsReview and approve change orders to ensure they are within budget for a project and recorded with accurate and complete documentationPrepare pay requisitions in CMiC to customers with accurate and complete billing backup per contractPrepare custom pay requisitions as required by customersMaintain communications between subcontractors, vendors, and customers, including revisions and requests for more detail/documentation, etc.Investigate project variances between billed vs spent amounts and submit variance reports to management monthlyReport on profitability to managementReport unpaid billings to customers over 30 days to managementCreate and submit government reportsCompile information for internal and external auditors as requiredClose out project accounts upon project completionMINIMUM REQUIREMENTSPrior experience in construction accounting or project accounting is desiredWorking knowledge of subcontractor pay apps, change orders, and cost trackingStrong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlinesExperience with construction accounting or project management software preferredClear communication skills and ability to work with multiple project teamsWhat We OfferThe position offers a highly competitive wage and benefits package, with a salary commensurate with experience and level of knowledge.
