Job Overview

Our client is looking for an experienced Construction Project Accountant to join their growing team. In this role, you’ll work closely with the Controller and project teams to manage project accounting, billing, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and subcontractor documentation.

The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, dependable, and comfortable managing multiple projects and deadlines. You’ll have the opportunity to work with a collaborative team while continuing to grow your construction accounting skills.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Prepare and process customer billings and applications accurately and on time.

• Create and maintain project Schedules of Values (SOVs) and billing schedules.

• Manage contract change orders and update the accounting/billing system.

• Monitor accounts receivable, follow up on collections, and report delinquent accounts.

• Maintain accurate A/R aging reports and project accounting records.

• Process vendor and job-related invoices and match them with purchase orders and receipts.

• Manage subcontractor information, including adding/removing subcontractors and maintaining required documentation.

• Maintain W-9s, certificates of insurance, lien waivers, close-out documents, and other project records.

• Review contracts, work orders, liens, and other documents to determine applicable fees and payments.

• Review billings for accuracy and completeness before submitting them for approval.

• Complete SOV and budget setup before project mobilization.

• Maintain organized records of invoices, contracts, and supporting documentation.

• Respond to questions from customers, subcontractors, vendors, and internal team members regarding invoices and payments.

• Meet billing, collection, and project deadlines while managing multiple projects.

What You Must Have

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

• 2–4 years of construction accounting experience, including both A/R and A/P.

• Experience with job costing and percentage-of-completion (POC) revenue recognition.

• Familiarity with AIA billing documents.

• Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central or a similar integrated ERP system.

• Experience with construction platforms such as GCPay, Procore, and Textura.

• Strong communication, organizational, and analytical skills.

• Excellent attention to detail and follow-through.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

• Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and manage multiple projects.
