DEP is the largest combined municipal water and wastewater utility in the country, with nearly 6,000 employees. DEP's water supply system is comprised of 19 reservoirs and 3 controlled lakes throughout the system's 2,000 square mile watershed that extends 125 miles north and west of the City.The Bureau of Water Supply seeks to hire a Construction Project Engineer within the Capital Programs Management (CPM), Core Services Directorate, to support the overall portfolio of projects designed via Infrastructure Planning, Design & Construction (IPD&C) managed on-call design contracts.The Construction Project Engineer Intern is responsible for supporting IPD&C and the Chief of Construction Management in the planning and coordination of moderately complex capital projects from scope initiation through construction. Primarily, this position will be responsible for the tracking, monitoring, and execution of task orders issued under on-call construction management contracts.ResponsibilitiesReview consultant designs and ensure that construction adheres to specs and plans.Participate in field surveys and inspections.Notify Supervisor(s) of any adverse conditions.Monitor work in progress by contractors and report all hazardous conditions.Assist with formulation of punch lists and contractor's completion of punch list items.Assist with EH&S 1910 inspections and the resolution of any issues cited.Schedule and run meetings, both onsite and virtual.Maintain contract files and written records of job history and progress.Coordinate resolution of contractor inquiries.Write in a concise and organized manner.Analyze and present data, as compared to contract specification, schedule and budget constraints.Display understanding of technical content and scope.Interface with others in a professional manner.CompetenciesAnalytical AbilityCommunication SkillsInterpersonal SkillsTime ManagementFile management system capable of supporting legal documentation regarding contract disputesCritical ThinkingRecords and ReportsDaily and Weekly status updateseBuilder workflow and file storageMonthly contract invoicesLicense RequirementAt the time of appointment, candidates must possess a Motor Vehicle Driver License valid in the State of New York.
