Construction Project Manager

Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Construction Project Manager to support a portfolio of projects in Albuquerque, NM. This role operates from an owner's (client's) perspective within a Project/Portfolio Management Organization (PMO). The Project Manager will integrate seamlessly into the client's organization, utilizing client systems, tools, and project delivery processes while managing projects from initiation through closeout.

This position requires strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills, along with the ability to manage high workloads and coordinate across hybrid teams. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who can effectively balance responsibilities across multiple stakeholders while maintaining project performance in terms of cost, schedule, and quality.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage projects from planning through execution and closeout from an owner's perspective
• Ensure adherence to safety programs, policies, and training while promoting a strong safety culture across all project participants
• Build and maintain strong client relationships; serve as a primary interface for project-related communications
• Develop and maintain project charters, execution plans, and detailed schedules
• Lead regular project meetings, track action items, and distribute meeting minutes
• Oversee project progression through all phases of the client's project delivery model
• Prepare and present stage gate materials for executive review and approval
• Monitor deliverables from internal and external teams to ensure alignment with schedule and budget objectives
• Manage permitting processes, regulatory approvals, and stakeholder engagement activities (including community outreach and public meetings)
• Develop and maintain staffing plans for project teams
• Collaborate with estimating teams to develop accurate cost estimates throughout project lifecycle
• Track project budgets, cash flow, and variances; support business planning efforts
• Coordinate with field construction teams and contractors during execution
• Manage third-party engineering and consulting partners to meet project objectives
• Provide leadership and mentorship to junior project staff
• Develop contracting strategies and manage procurement processes, including RFP development and contractor selection
• Oversee contract administration, including RFIs, submittals, change orders, and claims mitigation
• Develop procurement plans and manage material delivery and turnover
• Identify and manage project risks, including maintaining risk registers and contingency planning
• Prepare and maintain project reporting, including cost forecasts, schedule updates, and financial tracking
• Support financial processes including project capitalization and compliance with accounting standards
• Address cost and schedule variances with corrective actions
• Manage contractor invoicing, accruals, and payment validation
• Lead project closeout activities in alignment with client financial and operational requirements

Qualifications:

• 5+ years of experience in project management, program management, or construction
• Experience in power utilities, transmission, and/or distribution (T&D) strongly preferred
• Experience in renewables or power generation is a plus
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Access)
• Strong communication, presentation, and organizational skills
• Experience with project management tools, scheduling software, and document control systems
• Familiarity with cost control and scheduling principles; experience with Primavera P6 preferred
• Working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
• Proven ability to manage project budgets and schedules and implement corrective actions
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field
• Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred
• Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred
• Valid driver's license and ability to meet driving requirements
• Must be able to work full-time on-site in Albuquerque, NM
