Construction Project Manager (EPC)

Contract-to-Hire

Candidates may be based out of either the Chesterfield, MO or Columbus, OH office.

Our client is seeking an experienced Construction Project Manager to support large-scale EPC (Engineering, Procurement & Construction) projects from pre-construction through project completion and warranty. This position is responsible for managing all aspects of construction execution including safety, quality, schedule, budget, subcontractors, client relationships, field operations, and project documentation.

Experience supporting Power Generation, Water, Transmission & Distribution, or other heavy industrial infrastructure projects is highly preferred.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead day-to-day construction activities on one or multiple EPC projects.
  • Promote and enforce a strong safety culture while ensuring compliance with company safety policies and procedures.
  • Develop and manage project schedules, budgets, staffing plans, cost forecasts, and construction execution plans.
  • Coordinate closely with engineering, procurement, subcontractors, suppliers, and field teams to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Participate in contract negotiations, subcontract administration, change order management, and risk reviews.
  • Support project planning including site logistics, mobilization, permitting, and procurement activities.
  • Manage RFPs, subcontractor prequalification, bid evaluations, scope development, and contract awards.
  • Review and present project financial reports, cash flow forecasts, schedules, and status updates to project leadership and executive management.
  • Oversee project documentation including RFIs, submittals, change management, closeout documentation, commissioning support, and warranty administration.
  • Monitor project performance through safety, quality, financial, and progress audits.
  • Manage project staffing, labor planning, equipment utilization, craft classifications, productivity, and earned value metrics.
  • Coordinate commissioning, startup, and project turnover activities.
  • Mentor Assistant Project Managers, Construction Coordinators, field supervision, interns, and project staff.
  • Foster positive relationships with clients, subcontractors, building trades, and regulatory agencies.
  • Support multiple concurrent projects while maintaining quality, schedule, and budget objectives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Construction, Engineering, or a related discipline preferred.
  • Equivalent construction management experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Minimum 7 years of construction project management experience within the construction industry.
  • Experience managing EPC or large industrial construction projects.
  • Experience in one or more of the following industries is preferred:
    • Power Generation
    • Transmission & Distribution
    • Water/Wastewater
    • Energy
    • Oil & Gas
    • Manufacturing
    • Government
    • Commercial Construction
    • Transportation
  • Strong knowledge of construction scheduling, cost control, document management, and project controls.
  • Experience with project management, scheduling, and document control software is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of contract administration, subcontract management, RFIs, submittals, and change management.
  • Basic understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Excellent leadership, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Access).
  • Must meet company driving requirements.
