Job Summary

The Data Center Construction Project Manager is responsible for leading the planning, execution, and delivery of complex mission-critical data center construction projects, ensuring completion on time, within budget, and to defined quality standards. Oversees project progress, coordinates cross-functional teams and external partners, and maintains accountability for schedules, budgets, documentation, and project outcomes. Serves as the client's representative throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring successful delivery aligned with client expectations and operational requirements. is responsible for leading the planning, execution, and delivery of complex mission-critical data center construction projects, ensuring completion on time, within budget, and to defined quality standards. Oversees project progress, coordinates cross-functional teams and external partners, and maintains accountability for schedules, budgets, documentation, and project outcomes. Serves as the client's representative throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring successful delivery aligned with client expectations and operational requirements.

This role must have experience as a Construction Project Manager on data center projects and must be local to Covington, Georgia.

Division Specific Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead the overall direction, execution, program management, and financial performance of mission-critical data center construction projects from pre-construction through commissioning and turnover.
  • Serve as the Owner''s Representative, overseeing general contractors, design consultants, commissioning agents, utility providers, and equipment vendors while acting as an extension of the client''s design and construction team.
  • Manage all phases of project delivery, including planning, design coordination, permitting, procurement, construction, commissioning, occupancy readiness, turnover, and closeout.
  • Oversee mission-critical MEP infrastructure, including electrical distribution, UPS systems, generators, switchgear, transformers, cooling systems, low-voltage systems, fire protection, security systems, BMS, and EPMS platforms.
  • Coordinate installation, startup, testing, and integration of critical infrastructure systems to ensure compliance with project specifications, reliability requirements, and operational goals.
  • Lead commissioning activities including Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), Integrated Systems Testing (IST), and final turnover documentation.
  • Ensure all systems meet client requirements for uptime, resiliency, scalability, and redundancy standards, including N, N+1, and 2N configurations.
  • Monitor contractor performance, construction quality, safety compliance, schedule adherence, and budget performance throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Review and manage RFIs, submittals, change orders, pay applications, commissioning reports, and project documentation.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, forecasts, and resource plans while identifying and mitigating project risks.
  • Evaluate schedule impacts, procurement challenges, construction conflicts, and commissioning issues, implementing corrective actions as needed.
  • Review third-party inspection reports and quality assurance documentation, ensuring deficiencies are resolved before turnover.
  • Present project status, budget updates, schedule performance, and risk assessments to client leadership and executive stakeholders.
  • Coordinate closely with operations, facility management, and commissioning teams to ensure a seamless transition from construction completion to operational readiness.
  • Maintain compliance with applicable building codes, permitting requirements, utility coordination requirements, and client standards.
  • Foster a culture of safety, accountability, quality, and continuous improvement across all project stakeholders.
  • Ability to identify, anticipate, and respond to evolving project and client needs throughout the project lifecycle.

Education, Certifications, and Experience

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field required.
  • Minimum of 10 years of construction project management experience.
  • Minimum of 5+ years of direct experience delivering data center or mission-critical construction projects.
  • Proven experience managing large-scale projects ($25M+ construction value).
  • Strong understanding of data center infrastructure, redundancy design, and commissioning processes.
  • Demonstrated success managing projects from pre-construction through commissioning and turnover.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

  • Valid driver's license with clean driving record required.
  • PMP certification preferred.
  • LEED AP preferred.
  • Mission-critical or commissioning certifications strongly preferred.

Physical and Environmental Conditions

While performing the onsite/field duties, the employee is required to:

  • Walk (material part of an 8-hour workday, up to 3 to 4 continuous hours at one time.)

  • Sit, Stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl to observe basement and grade-level crawl spaces, and/or to read equipment data plates when necessary (at least once for each building assessed)

  • Onsite visits can occur up to one continuous week at a time. As a general expectation, for approximately 2 to 3 days of the workweek, travel and onsite work is anticipated and expected. Overnight stays away from home may be required.
  • Work Environment: The employee is regularly exposed to outdoor weather conditions, moving mechanical components and assemblies, frequently exposed to work near energized electrical components and assemblies. The employee is occasionally exposed to work in high, precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, extreme cold, extreme heat, inclement weather conditions, and risk of electrical shock. The noise level at the project site is usually moderate.
