Job Summary

The Construction Project Manager provides field-based project management support for capital construction projects throughout the design, construction, and project closeout phases. This role is responsible for coordinating field activities, monitoring contractor performance, supporting inspections, maintaining project documentation, and ensuring compliance with contract requirements, safety standards, and quality expectations. The ideal candidate has experience managing large-scale construction projects, working collaboratively with contractors and engineering teams, and supporting complex infrastructure projects in active construction environments.

Job Responsibilities

  • Provide field and project management support for capital construction projects.
  • Assist with oversight of design consultants performing project assessments and condition surveys.
  • Monitor contractor and subcontractor activities to ensure compliance with contract drawings, specifications, quality standards, and safety requirements.
  • Perform field inspections and support quality assurance, quality control, and project closeout activities.
  • Coordinate with resident engineers, contractors, consultants, operations personnel, and engineering teams throughout project execution.
  • Attend project meetings, prepare meeting minutes, and track action items to completion.
  • Prepare daily reports, field reports, safety inspections, quality documentation, field sketches, estimates, change order scopes, and work order packages.
  • Coordinate access requests and project support services required for construction activities.
  • Assist with project budgeting, construction scheduling, estimating, and overall project coordination.
  • Monitor compliance with workplace safety requirements and applicable regulations.
  • Organize project records and prepare reports, presentations, and project documentation.
  • Support project execution from planning through final completion while maintaining schedule and quality objectives.
  • Travel between project sites as required to support field operations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

  • Minimum of four (4) years of full-time experience managing engineering or construction projects.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of supervisory experience or experience serving as a Project Manager on a large or complex construction project.
  • Experience supporting or managing construction projects valued at $20 million or greater.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Business from an accredited college, or an associate degree in Engineering.
  • Current OSHA 30 certification required.
  • Current eight-hour Lead Awareness certification required.
  • Ability to obtain required Right-of-Way access and successfully complete Track Safety training.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
  • Knowledge of construction scheduling, estimating, field operations, and capital construction practices.
  • Experience with field inspections, contractor coordination, change orders, project documentation, and construction reporting.
  • Strong knowledge of construction safety practices and regulatory compliance.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel; Microsoft Access experience preferred.
  • CADD experience is preferred but not required.
  • Strong written, verbal, organizational, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to work primarily in the field and travel between multiple project locations.
  • Ability to work weekends as required.
  • Ability to work safely in active construction, transit, or industrial environments.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Business from an accredited college required, or an associate degree in Engineering.

Work Experience

  • Minimum of four (4) years of engineering or construction project management experience.
  • Experience with large-scale infrastructure, transportation, transit, rail, station, communications, electrical, or public works construction projects preferred.
  • Experience coordinating contractors, consultants, and cross-functional project teams.
  • Experience with field inspections, project documentation, scheduling, estimating, safety compliance, and project closeout activities.
  • Experience supporting complex capital construction projects preferred.
