D. H. Griffin Infrastructure has an immediate opening for a Construction Quality Engineer.
D.H. Griffin Infrastructure is the Heavy Civil Construction component of the D.H. Griffin Companies. DHGI has built on top of decades of success in the wrecking and demolition industries to become one of the premier Heavy Civil contractors in North Carolina.
The Construction Quality Engineer will work closely with the Assistant Quality Manager and various Project Teams to oversee onsite quality processes ensuring construction activities meet or exceed contract specifications, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Lead and document inspections and quality audits across all phases of the project (earthwork, structures, utilities, etc.) to monitor and verify that construction work conforms to contract drawings, specifications, and applicable codes.
- Manage Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) by investigating root causes, coordinating resolutions with project teams, and implementing corrective actions to prevent re-occurrence.
- Ensure quality checklists, forms, and inspections are being completed by project teams by utilizing and maintaining tracking tools.
- Work with Survey team for pre-construction quality assurance efforts and as-built quality control verification.
Additional responsibilities may include:
- Conduct training sessions based on project requirements and upcoming work activities to ensure field personnel understand quality standards, procedures, and expectations.
- Perform material delivery inspections to verify compliance with project specifications, approved submittals, and quality standards.
Requirements:
- Must Possess a valid state driver's license.
- Must be able to read and understand construction plans and specifications.
- Bachelor's of Construction Management/Geomatics/Civil Engineering/Environmental Engineering/Material Science/Geology
and/or
- Industrial or Heavy Civil Construction: 4 years experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of standards related to underground utility construction including: AWWA C600, ASTM C1244, ASTM F1417, Uni-bell UNI-B-6-98, and NFPA 24.
- Knowledge of standards related to civil construction including: NCDOT Standards Specifications for Roads and Structures, NCDOT ESC Manual, and NPDES
- Certifications from Paving Inspector Certification (PIC), National Asphalt Pavement Association (NAPA), American Concrete Institute (ACI), state Departments of Transportation (DOTs), International Code Council (ICC), National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technology (NICET), American Welding Society (AWS), American Society for Nondestructive Testing (ASNT), or Northeast Transportation Training and Certification Program (NETTCP)
Primary Work Location:
- Raleigh, NC or Greensboro, NC - Requires approximately 50% regional travel; primarily day trips with minimal overnight stays.
