What You’ll Do 

  • Evaluate schedules, work performance quality, safety oversight, coordination effectiveness, and perform documentation reviews for all repair and construction work in progress or in planning stages at above-referenced facilities. 

  • Ensures conformance with NFPA codes, JCAHO standards, safety standards, and other agency criteria. 

  • Meet daily with construction contractors to ensure they are meeting the requirements of all USACE Quality Assurance Engineering Regulations, such as ER-1180-1-6, and MEDCOM QA reporting. 

  • Coordinate with various stakeholders to include Facilities, Logistics, Med Maintenance, the construction contractor, Regional Facilities staff, DPW PM staff, and project-related Corps of Engineers staff. Coordinates with facility infection control officers to ensure compliance. Coordinates with facility safety officers to implement effective safety policies. 

  • Reports compliance issues; monitors construction contractor quality control activities and makes appropriate recommendations to COR for Government action. 

  • Coordinate and meet with on-site contractors performing construction and adhere to the requirements of all USACE Quality Assurance Engineering Regulations, including but not limited to ER-1180-1-6 and all MEDCOM guidance on QA reporting. 

  • Present at utility outages to provide engineering and contractor support. 

  • Attends and participates in pre-construction, staff, in-progress-reviews, and other project-related meetings, and provides reports to COR or appropriate Government officials. 

  • Prepare written reports to government officials to apprise them of project status 

  • Provide QA services and effective coordination for all repair and construction work in progress or in planning stages at referenced facility.  Examples include QA services to:  

  • Evaluate schedules  

  • Work performance quality. Monitor construction contractor's QC activities and makes recommendations to COR  

  • Project safety oversight  

  • Perform documentation reviews  

  • Ensure conformance with NFPA, The Joint Commission (TJC), safety standards and other agency criteria   

  • Provide effective coordination:  

  • Coordinates with facility infection control for to ensure projects are in compliance with appropriate precautions  

  • Coordinates with facility Safety personnel for compliance with facility and NAVFAC policies  

  • Coordinates and reports compliance to the Contracting Officer of Record (COR)   

  • Execute duties in an ethical, non-discriminatory manner and promote a safe work environment. 

What You’ll Have 

  • Experience in healthcare construction, military medical facilities preferred 

  • Intermediate to advanced MS Office skills (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, & Project). 

  • Demonstrated experience in hospital electronic systems in general, and nurse call systems specifically. and demonstrated experience assisting Nurse Call Engineers with scheduling and work planning. 

  • Ability to collaborate effectively with project management staff in project meetings or individually to correct and prepare documents and products for submission. 

  • Development and production of basic office correspondence such as official letters and business documents to include weekly project status reports. 

  • Must be able to walk on difficult terrain, lift up to 20 pounds. 

  • Customer service skills with a high degree of communication capability. 

  • Ability to perform under pressure at times and takes pride in understanding, meeting, and exceeding customer needs with an emphasis on producing high-quality documents and products. 

  • Government Security Requirement: Must have or be able to successfully pass an adjudicated Tier 3 (formally known as the National Agency Check with Local Agency check and Credit Check (NACLC)) background investigation to access and work on US Government computer systems. 

  • Must possess experience in construction related quality control, project management or Facility management for hospital project(s). 

  • Experience with analyzing and diagnosing logic errors in project schedules. 

  • Five (5) years' experience in constructing and/or renovating commercial buildings. 

  • Experience working on a military installation is a plus.
