Job Title: CSA Superintendent (Construction Scheduler I)
Location: Onsite
Pay Rate: $81/hour
Duration: 1-Year Contract
Construction | Design-Build | Advanced Manufacturing
Position Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled CSA (Civil, Structural & Architectural) Superintendent to lead all civil, structural, and architectural field operations on large-scale, fast-paced design-build construction projects within the advanced manufacturing sector. This individual will be the senior field leader responsible for site development, foundations, structural steel and concrete systems, building envelope, and architectural finishes — ensuring these critical-path activities are executed safely, on quality, and ahead of schedule to enable downstream MEP and process equipment installations.
The ideal candidate has a proven track record of delivering the structural backbone of complex industrial facilities — including semiconductor fabrication plants, battery manufacturing facilities, pharmaceutical campuses, and data centers — in compressed, design-build schedules where early structural turnover is essential to project success.
Reports to: SR Manager of Construction
Direct Reports: Area Superintendents (Civil/Structural), Concrete Foremen, Steel Erection Leads, Architectural Foremen, Field Engineers, CSA Trades
Key Responsibilities
- Civil & Sitework Leadership: Direct all earthwork, grading, utilities, paving, and site infrastructure activities; manage mass excavation, dewatering, and soil stabilization operations for large industrial sites.
- Structural Concrete: Oversee all foundation systems (mat foundations, deep foundations, piers), elevated slabs, tilt-wall panels, and cast-in-place concrete operations including formwork, rebar placement, embed coordination, and concrete placement/finishing.
- Structural Steel Erection: Manage structural steel erection sequences, including heavy crane planning, connection inspections, bolt-up/torquing, and coordination with steel fabricators and erectors to maintain erection schedules.
- Building Envelope: Coordinate exterior wall systems (metal panels, curtain wall, precast), roofing, waterproofing, and building enclosure to achieve weather-tight milestones critical for interior MEP and process work.
- Architectural Finishes: Oversee interior architectural construction including partitions, ceilings, flooring, painting, and specialty finishes required in controlled manufacturing environments.
- Design-Build Coordination: Collaborate with structural and civil engineers during design development to provide constructability input, sequence recommendations, and early identification of long-lead items.
- Schedule Execution: Drive structural milestones through proactive planning, look-ahead development, and daily coordination; manage critical path activities that gate downstream trades.
- Crane & Heavy Lift Planning: Develop and oversee crane utilization plans, heavy lift sequences, and rigging operations for structural steel, precast, and heavy equipment placement.
- Safety Leadership: Enforce safety programs specific to high-risk CSA activities including steel erection, crane operations, excavation/trenching, concrete pumping, and working at heights.
- Quality Assurance: Manage structural QA/QC programs including concrete testing, steel connection inspections (bolting/welding), survey control, and third-party inspection coordination.
- Subcontractor Management: Manage civil, concrete, steel, and architectural subcontractors; drive manpower loading, equipment planning, and material deliveries to maintain schedule.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 12 years of construction experience in civil, structural, and architectural work, with at least 5 years in a Superintendent role on large-scale industrial or commercial projects.
- Demonstrated experience on fast-paced, design-build construction projects with overlapping design releases and accelerated structural timelines.
- Direct experience with advanced manufacturing facility construction (semiconductor fabs, battery plants, pharmaceutical, data centers, or similar large-footprint industrial buildings).
- Strong expertise in structural steel erection, cast-in-place and precast concrete, deep foundations, and building envelope systems.
- Experience managing structural/civil scopes on projects valued at $300M+ with peak CSA workforce exceeding 800 craft workers.
- Thorough knowledge of crane planning, heavy rigging, and lift sequencing for industrial construction.
- Proficiency reading structural and civil construction drawings, specifications, and geotechnical reports.
- OSHA 30-Hour Construction certification required.
- Experience with survey control and layout for large industrial facilities with tight tolerances.
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field — OR equivalent combination of education and field experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with semiconductor fab or advanced technology facility structural systems (vibration-sensitive foundations, isolated slabs, heavy equipment pads).
- Certified Crane Operator (CCO) oversight experience or NCCCO rigging certification.
- ACI certifications (Flatwork Finisher, Field Technician).
- Experience with tilt-wall construction at scale (100+ panels).
- Knowledge of BIM/VDC for structural coordination and 4D schedule visualization.
- Lean construction training or Last Planner System® certification.
- Experience with design-assist or progressive design-build delivery for structural packages.
- Background in seismic or specialty foundation design coordination.
Competencies & Leadership Attributes
- Structural Acumen: Deep understanding of structural systems, load paths, erection sequences, and concrete operations; can evaluate means/methods and make field decisions with confidence.
- Schedule Driver: Understands that CSA activities are the critical path gatekeepers for an entire project; brings urgency and proactive planning to ensure structural milestones are met or beaten.
- Safety-First Mindset: Recognizes the elevated risk profile of structural work (crane ops, steel erection, excavation) and leads safety with conviction and accountability.
- Coordination & Sequencing: Thinks holistically about how civil/structural work enables downstream trades; plans area turnovers, embeds, sleeves, and penetrations in collaboration with MEP teams.
- Decisive Leadership: Makes timely, informed decisions in fast-moving environments where structural hold points can delay entire projects.
- Team Builder: Develops and mentors field staff; builds strong relationships with trade partners and fosters a collaborative, high-performance culture.
- Communication: Communicates clearly with design engineers, project management, trade contractors, and owner representatives on structural progress, challenges, and solutions.
