Position Overview
The screed operator is a highly skilled position involving the control and operation of the asphalt paving machine.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Adhere to and follow all safety rules and regulations of MSHA, OSHA, and Pennsy Supply Inc. • Conduct daily safety assignments, area inspections, pre-shifts, JSAs, TRACK, etc. • Maintain depth, grade, and yield of asphalt. • Operate free floating screed to level hot mix to the right thickness of evenness. • Ability to see differences in grade. • Manipulates hand or foot levers to control movements of machine, spreads, and levels asphalt on subgrade of highway and related surfaces such as parking lots, streets, etc. • Collaborating with the paving crew for even asphalt distribution. • Adjusting the screed height and angle to ensure proper distribution.
Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
• Must submit to a drug screen, criminal background check, and DOT physical. • Current drivers license and reliable source of transportation. • Able to work various times during the day, night, or weekend hours at various locations. • Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent. • Previous experience in the construction and paving industry preferred.
