Construction Services Procurement Category Manager

About the Role

This role develops and executes sourcing strategies that align with the Construction Services Category portfolio's goals across all business lines and broader enterprise objectives. This position leads strategic sourcing, category management, and supplier governance to drive performance, cost savings, sustainability, and supplier diversity.

The role works closely with internal stakeholders to ensure sourcing activities meet operational needs and capital project requirements, and identifies opportunities for process improvements, standardization, and increased value. This is a collaborative role that strengthens sourcing outcomes and improves the client experience across the portfolio.

What You Will Be Doing

• Establish a high-performance team to develop strategic portfolio and category plans to generate cost savings, deliver service excellence, optimize diversity spending, and total cost of ownership for key lines of business.
• Ensure the overall governance of the contract approval process from contract creation through contract award.
• Oversee contract spend across multiple spend categories.
• Develop short and long-term strategies for all spend categories within the portfolio.
• Lead complex cross-functional teams in the execution of strategic sourcing initiatives.
• Manage spend analysis, needs assessment, benchmarking, and business case development.
• Lead development and execution of negotiation strategies.
• Monitor and maximize customer satisfaction using standardized client service level agreements.
• Manage continuous improvement-based relationships that deliver mutually beneficial results.
• Establish service level agreements to hold suppliers accountable for performance.
• Approve purchase orders and contracts from $500,000 to $10 million.
• Work with Sourcing Supervisors, Category Leaders, and Sourcing Specialists.
• Develop work processes and procedures aligned with organizational requirements.

What Is Needed For This Role

• Bachelor's degree
• At least 10 years of strategic sourcing experience
• Experience in Construction Services Category Management
• SAP proficiency.

Desired Skills

• Desired MBA or equivalent advanced degree.
• Experience overseeing enterprise-wide construction services categories rather than just individual projects.
• Utility industry experience.
