Start Date: ASAP Temp ONLY - thru November at minimum and would possibly extend into March 2023 Locals Only Work Location: Huntsville, AL 35808 Interviews REQUIRED - via phone and in-person _______________________________________________ CONSTRUCTION SPECIALIST JOB DESCRIPTION Pre-inspection preparation, including reading and getting a good grasp of the content of construction contracts, including specifications, product data, manufacturer recommended maintenance actions, plans, applicable codes and standards, field reports and laboratory test requirements. Monitor maintenance & construction activities to ensure contracting personnel perform work in conformance with MSFC requirements, including construction and performance specifications, applicable building and related code requirements, MSFC Standards, manufacturer instructions, and contract construction drawings. Duties include performing daily field inspections, generating and maintaining inspection records, identifying punch list items, performing and/or witnessing various testing operations, and assisting in commissioning activities. Additional duties include reporting contractor work progress to the client, verifying contractor safety meetings are regularly conducted, and diligently reporting contractor safety violations and incidents. Perform review of design drawings for constructability purposes, to aid in design development of construction drawings. Participate in pre-bid site meetings with project managers, resident engineers, and interested contractor representatives. Participate in pre-construction and pre-installation meetings with project managers, resident engineers, and construction contractor representatives. Interact with government clients related to definition and implementation of requirements associated with various aspects of facilities maintenance, construction, and design. Assist client project managers as needed throughout the duration of each assigned work project. REQUIREMENTS EDUCATION: o Specialty or Significant Experience in electrical construction/installation projects. o An Associate's Degree in a related technical field and five (5) years of experience in equivalent inspection, examination, or testing activities with at least two (2) years of this experience associated with facility construction; OR - o Four (4) year college graduation in a technical field plus one (1) year related experience; OR - o High school graduation plus ten (10) years of related experience in equivalent inspection, examination, or testing with at least four (4) years of this experience associated with facility construction. EXPERIENCE: Knowledge of principles and practices of facilities construction, equipment installation, and repairs Pass a criminal history/security background check and pre-employment drug testing. Have a valid driver's license and good driving record U. S. citizenship Possess skill in communicating effectively in written and verbal forms. Have capacity to exercise independent judgment and initiative in inspection of small and large scale maintenance & construction projects Physically able to safely work and walk in outdoor/construction site environments, operate a motor vehicle, climb stairs, and perform other physical activities associated with construction work sites Perform work both outdoors and indoors at construction sites, and sometimes in areas adjacent to vehicular traffic. Occasionally perform moderately strenuous tasks, such as lifting and carrying instruments weighing up to 40 pounds over rough terrain. Wear personal protective equipment when tasks require it. Working knowledge of MS Word and Excel Ability and willingness to assist engineers, designers, drafters, inspectors, administrative personnel, and other staff members as needed
