Construction Superintendent - Chicagoland Public Projects

A growing project and construction management firm specializing in commercial, institutional, and public-sector projects is seeking an experienced Construction Superintendent to join its team. This role involves managing onsite construction activities from preconstruction through project closeout while coordinating with project managers, contractors, consultants, and owners to ensure successful project delivery.

Key Responsibilities

Preconstruction & Planning

• Assist with project planning, budgeting, scheduling, and phasing strategies
• Review drawings and project documents for constructability and coordination issues
• Support project teams during bidding, contractor selection, and procurement processes
• Participate in preconstruction meetings and coordination with consultants and governing agencies

Construction Management

• Lead day-to-day on-site construction operations and coordination efforts
• Manage subcontractors, schedules, site logistics, and overall jobsite activities
• Conduct quality control inspections to ensure compliance with plans and specifications
• Chair weekly coordination and progress meetings with contractors and project stakeholders
• Monitor project schedules and assist in implementing corrective actions when needed
• Coordinate inspections, utilities, temporary facilities, and other site requirements
• Support project cost tracking, change management, and progress payment review

Project Closeout

• Assist with punch list completion and resolution of construction-related issues
• Coordinate turnover documentation, training sessions, and final project closeout activities

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field preferred
• Minimum 5 years of construction supervision or field management experience
• Strong understanding of commercial construction practices, building systems, and site coordination
• Experience managing subcontractors and maintaining project schedules
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and construction management software such as Procore
• Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills
• Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
