Construction Superintendent
Location: Key West, FL

Position Overview
Our client is seeking an experienced Construction Superintendent to oversee the successful completion of a long-term commercial building project in Key West, Florida. The project consists of three above-grade, non-critical buildings that are in the final stages of construction after several years of development.
This role requires a seasoned construction professional with broad building construction experience who can lead daily field operations, coordinate multiple trades, and serve as the primary on-site liaison with the client's representative (CTOR). The ideal candidate is a proactive leader with exceptional communication skills, strong organizational abilities, and a proven track record of delivering quality projects safely, on schedule, and within budget.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide overall on-site administrative and technical leadership for construction activities.
- Lead and manage daily field operations to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality project execution.
- Coordinate and oversee subcontractors, vendors, inspectors, and construction personnel.
- Serve as the primary point of contact with the client's on-site representative (CTOR) regarding daily project activities.
- Ensure all construction work complies with project plans, specifications, quality standards, and applicable building codes.
- Monitor project schedules and support timely completion of all remaining work.
- Review project schedules and budgets while ensuring adherence to project milestones.
- Conduct and participate in project meetings with project management, subcontractors, and client representatives.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized jobsite while enforcing all safety policies and procedures.
- Prepare and maintain daily field reports, RFIs, field directives, and other required project documentation.
- Coordinate inspections and support timely approvals from governing authorities.
- Collaborate closely with the Project Manager and other field management personnel to ensure successful project completion.
- Identify and proactively resolve field issues to minimize schedule impacts.
Required Construction Experience
Candidates should possess experience overseeing a wide variety of commercial building construction activities, including:
- Deep and shallow foundation systems
- Site development, utilities, excavation, and support of excavation systems
- Structural steel and reinforced concrete construction
- Building envelope and façade systems
- Interior build-out and finishes
- Site improvements and landscaping
- Multi-trade coordination on active commercial construction projects
- Quality control and compliance with project specifications
- Budget awareness and schedule management
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field plus 8+ years of relevant construction experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Demonstrated experience serving as a Construction Superintendent on commercial or institutional building projects.
- Strong leadership and supervisory experience managing multiple subcontractors and construction trades.
- Experience acting as the primary liaison between contractors and client representatives.
- Thorough knowledge of construction means, methods, scheduling, safety practices, and quality control.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Outstanding organizational, planning, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced construction environment while maintaining professionalism.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working for a large General Contractor (GC).
- Experience on large vertical commercial construction projects.
- Builder's License or General Contractor license strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated success completing projects during final construction and closeout phases.
