Our client is a growing Connecticut-based general contractor specializing in public sector construction, historic preservation, restoration, and renovation projects, actively seeking a Construction Superintendent to join a thriving team.
Description
- Manage and supervise all day-to-day construction activities on assigned projects.
- Coordinate subcontractors, vendors, inspectors, and project stakeholders.
- Develop and maintain short-term and long-term project schedules.
- Ensure work is performed according to plans, specifications, contract requirements, and applicable codes.
- Maintain project quality standards and oversee workmanship throughout construction.
- Conduct daily site inspections and proactively identify and resolve issues.
- Lead weekly subcontractor coordination meetings and safety meetings.
- Monitor project progress and provide regular updates to Project Managers.
- Coordinate material deliveries and verify proper storage and handling.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and company safety policies.
- Maintain daily reports, job site logs, photographs, and project documentation.
- Coordinate inspections with building officials, architects, engineers, and owners.
- Oversee punch-list completion and project closeout activities.
- Protect existing structures and historic features during renovation and restoration work.
- Ensure compliance with prevailing wage requirements and public-sector project procedures.

Profile
A successful Construction Superintendent should have:
- Minimum 5 years of construction superintendent experience.
- Experience managing commercial, institutional, municipal, or public works projects.
- Strong understanding of construction means, methods, materials, and sequencing.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and mobile construction management applications.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
- Experience with historic restoration, preservation, and adaptive reuse projects.
- OSHA 30-Hour Certification.
- Experience working on occupied renovation projects.
- Knowledge of Connecticut public bidding and prevailing wage requirements.
- First Aid/CPR certification.
- Familiarity with project management software such as Procore, Autodesk Construction Cloud, or similar platforms.
