K-12 Construction Superintendent

Position Summary

The Superintendent is responsible for overseeing all field operations for K-12 educational construction projects, ensuring projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with quality standards. This individual will coordinate subcontractors, manage site logistics, maintain communication with project stakeholders, and ensure minimal disruption to active school operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage all on-site construction activities from project mobilization through closeout.
• Develop and maintain project schedules in coordination with the Project Manager.
• Coordinate and supervise subcontractors, vendors, and field personnel.
• Ensure compliance with all safety regulations, OSHA requirements, and company safety policies.
• Monitor project quality and ensure all work complies with plans, specifications, and applicable building codes.
• Conduct daily site inspections and maintain project documentation, including daily reports and progress photos.
• Manage site logistics, sequencing, and material deliveries.
• Coordinate inspections with local authorities and school district representatives.
• Identify and proactively resolve field issues, conflicts, and schedule impacts.
• Lead project meetings with subcontractors and stakeholders.
• Oversee punch list completion and project closeout activities.
• Ensure projects are executed with sensitivity to occupied campuses, student safety, and school operational requirements.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5+ years of experience as a Superintendent on commercial construction projects.
• Prior K-12, higher education, or occupied renovation experience strongly preferred.
• Proven experience managing projects ranging from $10M to $50M+.
• Strong knowledge of construction methods, scheduling, safety regulations, and building codes.
• Experience with Procore, Bluebeam, Microsoft Project, or similar construction management software.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• OSHA 30 certification preferred.

Preferred Experience

• Ground-up K-12 schools, additions, and major renovations.
• Experience working on occupied campuses and phased construction projects.
• Familiarity with public procurement processes and school district standards.
