The position is full-time on a temporary basis and may offer permanent placement pending project need. The role will sit onsite and may offer relocation for the right candidate.

Job Description:
The Construction Superintendent - Special Projects is responsible for the overall field leadership, coordination, execution, and successful completion of construction, renovation, maintenance, and special projects performed in Kodiak and remote Alaska locations. This position serves as the Company's onsite construction management representative and is responsible for directing field operations, coordinating subcontractors and internal personnel, maintaining project schedules, enforcing safety standards, and ensuring quality workmanship.
This is a management-level, non-bargaining position requiring independent judgment, leadership, organizational skills, and broad construction knowledge across multiple trades and disciplines.
The ideal candidate will possess strong practical experience in commercial, industrial, institutional, or government construction with a strong background in foundations, framing, siding, carpentry, and general building construction. Familiarity with plumbing, mechanical/HVAC, and electrical systems is highly desirable to support multidisciplinary project coordination and oversight.
This is currently a temporary full-time position supporting special projects and expanded construction operations, with the intent to transition into a permanent role as operations continue to grow.
- Provide overall onsite supervision and coordination of construction and special projects.
- Direct and assign work activities to field crews, subcontractors, and support personnel.
- Coordinate daily construction operations to ensure safe, efficient, and timely project execution.
- Plan and sequence work activities while maintaining project schedules and operational requirements.
- Review drawings, specifications, scopes of work, schedules, and project documentation.
- Monitor construction quality and ensure compliance with applicable codes, safety requirements, contract documents, and company standards.
- Coordinate activities between multiple trades including carpentry, concrete, plumbing, mechanical, electrical, and specialty subcontractors.
- Identify field conflicts, construction deficiencies, and schedule impacts, and implement corrective actions.
- Conduct site walks, safety inspections, and quality control reviews.
- Support material procurement coordination, equipment logistics, and remote site mobilization planning.
- Maintain project documentation including daily reports, schedules, punch lists, progress tracking, and field coordination records.
- Coordinate directly with project managers, estimators, engineers, facility representatives, government personnel, vendors, and subcontractors.
- Participate in project planning meetings and provide project status updates to management.
- Enforce company safety policies, OSHA standards, environmental requirements, and site-specific safety procedures.
- Assist with workforce planning, staffing coordination, and evaluation of labor requirements.
- Provide input and effective recommendations regarding employee performance, work assignments, discipline, hiring, retention, promotion, and training.
- Support emergency response activities and operational priorities as required.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Minimum of seven (7) years of progressively responsible construction experience.
- Minimum of three (3) years in a superintendent, foreman, construction lead, or supervisory role.
- Demonstrated experience in:
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, schedules, and scopes of work.
- Working knowledge of construction sequencing, safety requirements, and quality control practices.
- Familiarity with plumbing, HVAC/mechanical, and electrical systems sufficient to coordinate multidisciplinary construction activities.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to independently prioritize and manage multiple concurrent tasks and projects.
- Valid driver's license with ability to obtain and maintain access to government and secure facilities.
- Ability to travel and work at remote Alaska project locations for extended durations when required.
- Ability to pass required drug screening and motor vehicle driving review.
Preferred:
- Prior experience working on federal, military, remote-site, industrial, or government construction projects.
- OSHA 30 certification or equivalent safety training.
- Experience managing occupied facility renovations and phased construction projects.
- Experience coordinating subcontractors and multiple construction trades simultaneously.
- Familiarity with Alaska construction logistics and remote mobilization operations.
- Experience with construction scheduling software, project tracking systems, or computerized maintenance/work management systems.
Supervisory Responsibilities
This position reports directly to the Special Projects Manager and provides field leadership and operational oversight for assigned construction activities, subcontractors, and project personnel. Responsibilities may include directing daily work assignments, evaluating work performance, coordinating staffing needs, providing input regarding disciplinary actions, and supporting hiring and personnel recommendations.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements
- Work is performed in both office and active construction site environments.
- Position requires frequent walking, climbing, bending, lifting, and navigating active construction areas and uneven terrain.
- Exposure to outdoor weather conditions, remote site environments, and construction hazards is expected.
- Extended work hours, adjusted schedules, and occasional weekend work may be required to support project schedules and operational requirements.
- Remote travel and temporary lodging assignments may be required.
