Construction Worker (General Laborer)

Job Title: General Laborer
Department: OIC Construction
Classification: Hourly, Part-Time (Mixed Schedule)
Compensation: $16–$18 per hour

Position Purpose
The General Laborer supports construction operations on residential and light commercial job sites by assisting with labor tasks, maintaining safety, and helping keep projects on schedule.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform general labor tasks including site prep, material handling, and cleanup
• Assist skilled tradespeople and Site Supervisors
• Load/unload and move materials, tools, and equipment
• Maintain a safe, clean job site in compliance with OSHA standards
• Follow directions and complete tasks efficiently to meet project timelines
• Adhere to all safety rules and perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred
• Prior construction or general labor experience preferred
• Ability to lift 50+ lbs. and work in varying weather conditions
• Reliable transportation to Nash and Edgecombe County job sites
• OSHA-10 preferred (or willingness to obtain)
• Dependable, punctual, and able to follow direction

Work Environment & Physical Requirements
Outdoor work on active construction sites with exposure to weather, noise, and debris. Requires standing, walking, bending, lifting (50+ lbs.), and other physically demanding activities.
