Construction Worker I – Parks Department
City of O'Fallon, Missouri
The City of O'Fallon is seeking a dedicated, hands‑on Construction Worker I to join our Parks Department team. In this role, you'll help build, maintain, and enhance the parks and outdoor spaces that make O'Fallon a great place to live, work, and play. Compensation
This position offers an annual salary of $51,459.20, paid at an hourly rate of $24.74
What You'll Do:
You'll support the construction, repair, and maintenance of City parks and related facilities. Typical responsibilities include:
• Performing construction and facility maintenance tasks such as painting, plumbing, fencing, and carpentry
• Maintaining and servicing equipment
• Repairing or maintaining park streets, sidewalks, signs, storm structures, and related infrastructure
• Assisting with irrigation repairs and lake maintenance
• Completing playground installations and repairs
• Setting up forms, finishing concrete and asphalt, and repairing sidewalks
• Operating a variety of equipment, including dump trucks, backhoes, concrete saws, chain saws, excavators, skid steers, turf equipment, and hand tools
• Purchasing and tracking supplies
• Assisting with festivals, special events, and snow removal operations
• Setting up safe work zones, transporting equipment, and performing daily cleaning of restrooms and maintenance shops
• Performing other duties as assigned
What You Bring:
• Knowledge of parks maintenance, construction practices, equipment operation, and relevant regulations
• Skill in welding, fabrication, grading, trenching, concrete finishing, and the use of hand and power tools
• Ability to haul heavy loads and handle equipment safely
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team
Minimum Qualifications:
• High School diploma or GED
• One to three years of relevant experience or completion of an apprenticeship/internship
• Ability to obtain and maintain a valid Class A CDL issued by the State of Missouri(Paid training available)
• Ability to lift and maneuver required weights safely
