Position Summary

Spire is seeking a Consultant to support forensic and dispute resolution engagements for owners, contractors, and subcontractors across numerous sectors of the AEC industry. The Consultant assists with claims analysis, schedule delay and damages assessments, and the preparation of expert work product for mediation, arbitration, and litigation, applying a strong foundation in project controls (time, cost, and risk). The Consultant supports the completion of client engagements and internal projects, promotes Spire's company values, and works to achieve the company's core purpose.

Responsibilities

Claims & Forensic Analysis

    • Assist with technical analyses, including changed work, schedule delay, acceleration, productivity loss, standard of care, and quantification of damages.
    • Manage, review, and analyze project documents, schedules, cost data, and contract records in support of claims and disputes.
    • Evaluate project planning, cost management, and schedule development to identify the root causes of time and cost impacts.
    • Compile and organize project data in support of various forensic analyses.
    • Perform legal and industry standards research.

Expert Support & Deliverables

    • Prepare reports and presentations for expert witness use during mediation, arbitration, and litigation.
    • Prepare demonstrative aids and visual materials to clearly convey findings to counsel, triers of fact, and other key stakeholders.
    • Support the engagement team by summarizing preliminary findings in preparation for client meetings and deliverables.

Quality & Operations

    • Prioritize and manage multiple concurrent engagements while meeting goals and deadlines.
    • Ensure work products conform to the highest quality standards and consistently apply Spire's QA/QC guidelines.
    • Assist with the creation of SOPs and templates; develop and provide feedback on company standards, procedures, and processes.
    • Participate in companywide business strategy review meetings.

Communication & Professional Growth

    • Communicate clearly and professionally with clients through verbal and written interactions.
    • Build on the foundational knowledge gained as an Associate Consultant while expanding technical and business expertise and contributing to the development of others.
    • Engage with industry organizations to stay informed on emerging trends and actively seek opportunities to contribute as a thought leader.
    • Build familiarity with business development by observing and participating in client development conversations and related strategic efforts.
    • Conduct industry research and pursue continued learning in preparation for advancement to the next level.

Education & Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline preferred; equivalent relevant experience will also be considered.
    • Master's degree in Engineering, Construction, or a related discipline is a plus.
    • Three (3) to five (5) years of experience in claims analysis, dispute resolution consulting, forensic project work, construction, project controls, scheduling, or cost estimating preferred.
    • Familiarity with schedule delay analysis methodologies and damages quantification approaches is a plus.
    • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
    • Professional certifications such as PSP, CCP, PMP, PE, or CCE are preferred but not required.

Skills

    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
    • Proficiency in industry-standard tools such as Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, RSMeans, Microsoft Visio, and Sage.
    • Ability to review and analyze project schedules, cost data, contracts, and project documentation.
    • Ability to learn and adapt quickly to new software tools and systems.
