Consultant I, Maximo

Location: Hybrid/Home-based, Canada

Position Summary:

Cohesive is seeking a Consultant I, Maximo with up to 2 years of hands-on functional or technical experience working with IBM Maximo to join our growing team. As the worlds leading Maximo implementation partner, Cohesive supports clients across a wide range of industries through a global network of professionals located in 22 offices and remote locations worldwide.

This role offers an excellent opportunity to deepen your expertise in Enterprise Asset Management (EAM), helping organizations improve asset reliability, operational efficiency, and business performance through IBM Maximo Application Suite (MAS).

The successful candidate will have some prior exposure to working on IBM Maximo projects. Depending on your background and expertise, you will support functional or technical workstreams on a project, collaborate closely with clients and project teams, prepare documentation and/or build configurations, aligned with business objectives and industry best practices under the guidance of a senior colleague.

This position reports to the Manager, Services as part of the Delivery team.

Responsibilities:

Functional Consultant Focus

Consultants with a functional background will be responsible for:

  • Participating in and supporting senior team members in requirements-gathering workshops with business stakeholders.

  • Documenting current-state and future-state business processes, including process flows and functional design specifications.

  • Demonstrating strong problem-solving skills through research, analysis, and presentation of findings.

  • Developing test scenarios and detailed test scripts

  • Creating training materials and quick reference guides

  • Supporting solution design and development for Maximo functional areas including Asset Management, Work Management, Procurement, Inventory Management, and industry solutions such as Health, Safety & Environment (HSE), Oil & Gas, and Transportation.

Technical Consultant Focus

Consultants with a technical background will be responsible for:

  • Participating in technical workshops and supporting senior team members in translating business requirements into detailed technical specifications.

  • Troubleshooting technical issues, identifying root causes, and implementing effective solutions.

  • Performing Maximo installations, configurations, upgrades, data migrations, and integrations with third-party systems, with guidance from senior team members.

  • Developing and supporting reports using BIRT and Eclipse IDE.

Learning & Development:

  • Gain exposure to industry best practices in Enterprise Asset Management and Maximo implementations.

  • Receive mentorship from experienced consultants and participate in structured training sessions.

  • Develop skills in gathering business requirements, supporting workshop facilitation, configuring software, testing, troubleshooting, data migration, and integration techniques.

  • Exposure to the end-to-end SDLC lifecycle on projects.

  • Build deep expertise in one or more areas of specialization within Maximo and Enterprise Asset Management.

  • Shape your career path based on your interests, strengths, and professional goals.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent from a recognized higher educational institution, in the field of Computer Science, Engineering, or Information Technology.

  • Up to 2 years of hands-on experience with IBM Maximo or Maximo Application Suite (MAS), including the Manage application.

  • Up to 2 years of experience gathering, documenting, and implementing business and user requirements through workshops and stakeholder engagement.

  • Basic understanding of Maximo applications, associated business processes, and solution design principles.

Technical Consultant Requirements

  • Experience working with databases such as DB2, Oracle, and SQL Server.

  • Basic to intermediate proficiency in SQL and experience with Java, JavaScript, Python, or similar programming languages.

Functional Consultant Requirements

  • Exposure to tools such as JIRA and/or Azure DevOps.

  • Ability to develop basic business process maps using Visio or similar tools.

Additional Qualifications:

  • Exceptional customer service and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build trust and communicate effectively with both business and technical audiences.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a proactive and solution-oriented mindset.

  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.

Other:

  • This position may require some travel to client site, depending on project requirements. Travel, if required, will be limited to a maximum of 50% a year.
