Consumer Lending Specialist/Member Advisor

Financial Partners Credit Union is looking for a Consumer Lending Specialist/Member Advisor to join our team in Downey, CA. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys helping people, understands consumer lending, and can confidently guide members through the loan application process from initial conversation through funding.

You'll serve as a trusted resource for members seeking financing solutions. You'll identify their needs, explain available lending options, assist with applications, and help create a smooth and positive borrowing experience.

This is a great opportunity for someone with experience in credit union or banking environments, consumer lending, loan applications, or financial services who wants to build deeper expertise in lending while making a meaningful impact for members.

What Success Looks Like

This position offers a competitive base hourly rate plus the opportunity to earn significant monthly incentive compensation based on individual performance and results. Our incentive program is designed to reward high performance, giving successful team members the ability to meaningfully increase their total monthly earnings beyond their base pay.

What You'll Do

• Assist members with consumer lending needs, including reviewing available loan products and identifying solutions that fit their financial goals.
• Guide members through the consumer loan application process, ensuring applications are accurate, complete, and handled efficiently.
• Discuss loan options, rates, terms, payments, and other relevant product information in a clear and member-friendly way.
• Gather and review documentation needed to support consumer loan applications and work closely with lending and underwriting partners throughout the process.
• Maintain communication with members regarding application status, outstanding documentation, next steps, and loan decisions.
• Identify opportunities to deepen member relationships by recommending relevant credit union products and services based on individual needs.
• Deliver an excellent member experience across phone, digital, and other communication channels.
• Maintain accurate records and follow established lending procedures, regulatory requirements, and credit union policies.
• Partner with internal teams to resolve member questions and ensure loans move efficiently from application through completion.
• Build trusted relationships with members by providing knowledgeable, responsive, and solutions-oriented service.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who combines strong member service skills with an interest in lending and financial solutions.

Successful candidates may bring:

• Previous experience in consumer lending, banking, credit unions, loan processing, or financial services.
• Experience assisting customers or members with loan applications or financial products.
• Knowledge of consumer lending products such as auto loans, personal loans, credit cards, lines of credit, or similar products.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to explain financial information in an understandable way.
• Excellent attention to detail when reviewing applications, documentation, and member information.
• Strong organization and follow-through in a fast-paced environment.
• A consultative approach to identifying member needs and recommending appropriate solutions.
• Comfort working toward individual, team, service, and lending goals.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive financial information appropriately.
