Consumer Loan Officer/MSR
We are seeking experienced candidates for a Consumer Loan Officer/MSR position with a local Credit Union in Akron, Ohio. This role is ideal for individuals with a background in loan origination and customer service within credit unions or financial institutions.

Hours: Monday Thursday, 8:00am - 4:30pm; Friday, 8:30am - 5:00pm
Pay: $22.00 - $27.00+ per hour, based on experience
Key Responsibilities
Confer with members to determine available income after expenses to meet credit obligations and legal requirements
Calculate debt and funds available to develop repayment plans and estimate debt liquidation timeframes
Contact creditors to explain members financial situations and negotiate payment adjustments
Establish payment priorities to reduce overall costs for members by liquidating high-interest loans first
Open accounts and disburse funds from accounts to creditors as an agent for members, maintaining detailed records
Counsel members on personal and family financial issues, including budgeting and spending habits
Assist members with loan applications, analyze financial status, credit reports, and property evaluation to determine loan feasibility
Review and process loan applications, making approvals or submitting for committee verification and recommendations
Cross-sell credit union services to members to maximize their benefits and increase the credit unions lending portfolio
Process various financial transactions, including account opening/closing, deposits, withdrawals, and issuing negotiable instruments
Respond to member inquiries about account operations, service access, discrepancies, and account management
Perform additional member service duties and support team members as needed
Minimum Requirements
Fully understand credit union products and services and assist members effectively
2-3 years of relevant experience as a credit union Loan Officer or Collection Officer
Loan origination experience required
College or technical school certification or equivalent experience
Ability to obtain and maintain an NMLS license and a Limited Lines Insurance License in Ohio (preferred)
Strong PC skills, including Word, Excel, and budgeting software (e.g., Quicken)
Knowledge of the Fair Credit Reporting Act and related regulations
Ability to read and interpret loan agreements and legal documents
Positive attitude, professional appearance, and demeanor
Ability to pass background, credit, and drug screening tests
Nice to Have Skills
Bilingual abilities are a plus
Experience with debt counseling or financial planning
Preferred Education and Experience
Associates or Bachelors degree in finance, accounting, or related field preferred
Prior experience working in a credit union environment
Other Requirements
Must handle cash and financial transactions securely
Piercings should be minimal; visible tattoos must be small and tasteful
Availability for training in Akron, lasting 2-3 weeks
Ability to work on-site at the Akron location
Passing a background check, credit check, and bondability review required
