Consumer Loan Officer/MSR
We are looking for a motivated and experienced Consumer Loan Officer/MSR to join a local credit union in Akron, Ohio. This role is ideal for individuals who have a background working in credit unions as a Loan Officer or Collection Officer and enjoy combining financial counseling with member service.

Hours: Monday Thursday: 8:00am - 4:30pm
Friday: 8:30am - 5:00pm
Pay: $45,000 - $55,000+ per year based on experience
Key Responsibilities
Confer with members to determine their available monthly income after expenses to meet credit obligations
Calculate debt amounts and funds available, planning payoff strategies and estimating debt liquidation timelines
Contact creditors to explain members financial situations and arrange payment adjustments
Establish payment priorities to help reduce member costs by liquidating high-interest loans first
Open accounts, disburse funds, and keep detailed records of account activity on behalf of members
Counsel members on personal and family financial issues, including budgeting and spending habits
Assist members with simple budgeting techniques and promote successful credit counseling
Review and analyze loan applications, including applicant financial status and credit reports, for loan feasibility
Correspond with members and creditors to clarify application details and resolve issues
Cross-sell other credit union products and services to members
Process member transactions, including deposits, withdrawals, check issuance, and account management
Respond to inquiries about accounts, resolve discrepancies, and help members maximize service usage
Perform other member service functions as needed
Minimum Requirements
Fully understand credit union products and services, and be able to assist members effectively
2-3 years of related experience as a credit union Loan Officer or Collection Officer
College or technical school certification or equivalent experience
Ability to obtain and maintain an NMLS license and a Limited Lines Insurance License in Ohio (preferred)
Proficiency with computer software including word processing, spreadsheets, and budgeting tools (e.g., Quicken)
Knowledge of the Fair Credit Reporting Act and applicable federal, state, and local regulations
Strong communication, professional appearance, and positive attitude toward members and staff
Ability to pass background, credit, and drug screens
Nice to Have Skills
Experience with automated loan processing technology
Familiarity with debt collection regulations and practices
Customer service skills and financial counseling background
Preferred Education and Experience
2-3 years of experience in credit union lending or collections
Relevant certifications related to financial counseling and lending
Other Requirements
Must pass a credit check and bondability check (handling cash/financial transactions) before interview
No lifetime theft, fraud, or deception convictions; last felony convictions must be over 7 years old
Minimal facial piercings; small, tasteful tattoos if visible; no face or neck tattoos unless approved

This is a contract-to-hire, first shift position with hours from 8:30am to 5:00pm, on-site in Akron. Hourly rate is approximately $22 to $27 per hour, with a salary potential of up to $60,000 annually. Training lasts 2-3 weeks at the Akron main office. The location may require rotating Saturday hours (about 1-2 per month).
