Job Summary:

Crystal Stairs is seeking a creative, diligent, passionate Content and Social Media Specialist to join our team. This role will be responsible for capturing engaging, on-brand content that elevates and expands Crystal Stairs' presence on digital and all other outreach platforms. The specialist will develop content that educates community members and stakeholders, widely shares our services and resources, strengthens community engagement, and increases program awareness.

The Content and Social Media Specialist will work as a member of the External Affairs team reporting to the Marketing & Communications Coordinator. This position will support and collaborate with various Crystal Stairs programs, work with our partners, and contribute to our outreach materials and the strategic growth of our social media presence to promote CSI's programs and services.

Responsibilities:

  • Help develop and maintain a social media content calendar to drive awareness to program enrollment and increase traffic to and engagement on Crystal Stairs platforms including but not limited to our website, Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn.
  • Create engaging social media content, including graphics, captions, short-form videos, and editorial pieces aligned with our brand voice and key initiatives.
  • Assist with gathering and producing content across all programs, including photos, videos, staff highlights, copy, and stories for use in social media, website, email, printed materials, and other collateral as needed.
  • Draft and design compelling content for multiple platforms, including email campaigns (e.g., Mailchimp), event and fundraising platforms (e.g., Bloomerang), website updates, and promotional materials such as flyers and event pages.
  • Support the External Affairs team with administrative tasks, project and event coordination, event set-up and support, and other administrative and creative needs as assigned.

Competencies:

  • Must be an analytical thinker, have excellent professional and interpersonal communication skills, writing skills, and possess good customer relations and customer service.
  • Demonstrate exceptional organizational and presentation skills.
  • Must be able to demonstrate proficiency in Excel, Microsoft Office Suite; and other databases/CRM platforms for event page design. Experience with Kindful/Bloomerang is a plus but not a requirement.
  • Must be flexible and able to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines; prioritizing urgent tasks when the need arises.
  • Ability to work in a collaborative, team environment with a positive attitude, willing to help and support other employees and departments, engage in staff events, and demonstrate company values.

Education:

Preferred Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or equivalent with a focus on social media, communications or marketing, sales and business development, storytelling; or equivalent experience in social media, communications, marketing, sales and business development, storytelling.

Experience:

Minimum 1-2 years of professional marketing and communication work expected. Communications or development experience for a community-based organization preferred.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven track record of success in consistency of brand promotion, agency voice, visuals.
  • Proven ability to maintain positive relationships with a variety of personalities inside and outside an agency.
  • Able to show success in increasing engagement.

Special Requirements:

Must possess and maintain a valid California driver's license; have daily use of a reliable motor vehicle; and provide and maintain evidence of automobile liability insurance. Must provide verification of a valid TB clearance within the last year of employment. Must successfully pass LiveScan fingerprint clearance and the Department of Justice (DOJ) criminal background check within 90 days of employment.
