Content & Events Producer, Made in PGH

The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette is seeking a creative, curious and highly skilled content producer who understands Pittsburgh and knows how to tell its stories.

You'll bring Pittsburgh's stories to the forefront—finding the right moments, capturing them beautifully and inspiring audiences to watch.

The Made in PGH Content & Events Producer creates compelling social and digital content that grows the Made in PGH audience, strengthens the brand and showcases what makes Pittsburgh worth exploring. You'll be out in the community discovering what's happening, capturing high-quality photo and video content, producing stories for social and digital platforms, and helping bring Made in PGH events and partnerships to life.

This is a producer-first role. You should be comfortable appearing on camera when the content calls for it, but your strongest skill should be what happens behind the camera: recognizing a great story, finding the right angle, capturing strong visuals and turning raw material into polished content that people want to watch, read and share.

As a member of the Advertising team, you'll also play an important role in delivering the campaigns and partnerships that support the Made in PGH business. This is not a sales position. Your role is to bring sold campaigns to life through strong creative execution while protecting the voice, quality and integrity of the Made in PGH brand. You'll understand the connection between audience engagement, advertiser value, client results and the continued growth of the business.

What you'll do

As a Content and Events Producer, you will:

• Conceptualize, capture and produce high-quality photo, video and digital content for Made in PGH's social and digital platforms, taking ideas from planning through shooting, editing and publishing.
• Identify stories, businesses, experiences, events and trends across Pittsburgh that will resonate with the Made in PGH audience.
• Serve as the subject matter expert on social media trends, platform updates, best practices, and emerging technologies, providing guidance to internal sales teams as needed.
• Plan and manage organic social content and campaigns that grow audience engagement while maintaining a consistent Made in PGH voice and visual identity.
• Fulfill sold campaigns, sponsored content and social initiatives in partnership with Advertising Sales, translating client objectives into engaging content that feels authentic to Made in PGH.
• Develop blog and digital content concepts, gather information, assign or coordinate work with contributors and manage publishing deadlines.
• Conceptualize and produce Made in PGH events, including promotion, logistics and on-site execution.
• Build productive relationships with Pittsburgh-area businesses, organizations and community partners that help Made in PGH stay connected to what's happening across the region.
• Monitor content and campaign performance, analyze metrics, develop monthly and quarterly performance reports, identify trends, and provide recommendations to continuously improve content strategy and platform performance.
• Manage multiple projects, schedules, deadlines and budgets while maintaining quality and attention to detail.
• Appear on camera, conduct interviews or represent Made in PGH when it supports the content or brand.

What You'll Bring

Successful candidates will bring:

• At least 2 years of professional experience in content production, social media, digital media, marketing or related work.
• A bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, media, business or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• Demonstrated ability to independently capture and produce polished, social-first photo and video content.
• A strong creative eye and instinct for visual storytelling, including composition, pacing and what captures and holds an audience's attention.
• Experience shooting and editing for social platforms and an understanding of how content should adapt across channels.
• A genuine understanding of Pittsburgh, its neighborhoods, people, businesses and culture, with the curiosity to continually discover what's next.
• Strong business acumen and an understanding of how audience growth, engagement, campaign execution and brand reputation contribute to advertiser value and revenue.
• The judgment to balance client objectives with the voice, integrity and audience expectations of Made in PGH.
• Strong writing, communication, project-management and organizational skills, with the ability to work independently and manage competing priorities.

Additional Details: This position generally works a hybrid schedule. Some assignments and events will require evening or weekend work. Schedule adjustments will be coordinated with the position's supervisor. The role also requires regular local travel to attend events, meet with partners and gather content. Travel may account for up to 50% of the position's schedule.

Salary Range: $62,000–$75,000. Eligible to earn commissions. Individual pay may vary based on experience, internal equity, and business considerations. We regularly review compensation to ensure it remains competitive, fair, and equitable.

Additional details

This role requires regular interaction with clients, agencies, vendors, and internal stakeholders.
