ABOUT

The Continuing Education Faculty is a part-time position responsible to the Dean, School of Skilled Trades & Continuing Studies.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

• Meeting all scheduled classes for the full class period. For distance education professors, meeting the instructional requirements of a distance education class as specified in the distance education course standards
• Following prescribed master course syllabi and adopted textbooks
• Preparing instructional materials and keeping them current to make the best possible use of each class period
• Informing students of student learning outcomes, class procedures and grading policies at the beginning of each course
• Enhancing the instructional/learning process by emphasizing effective course organization and planning, faculty/student interaction, communication, level of course difficulty and workload, appropriate textbooks and readings, and tests and examinations
• Keeping accurate records of students' attendance and grade as required
• Motivating students by a professional, responsive and cordial attitude to perform at their highest level
• Maintaining an atmosphere of dignity and propriety conducive to learning in the classroom
• Utilizing talents, academic background and strong personal qualities to serve the best interests of students and Tyler Junior College
• Assisting with any necessary certification or approval of courses as required by course related credentialing agency if applicable

WHO YOU ARE

Required Education/Experience

• Meets standards set by state or federal agency that credentials professionals in field of study being taught
• Demonstrated/documented experience in subject matter and related work experience
• Current licensure or certification if applicable

Preferred Education/Experience

• Demonstrated work experience in the field of study and/or credentialed in the field of study

RETIREMENT

Part-Time Retirement

Part-time employees are required to participate in the part-time retirement fund. The retirement fund is invested in a group fixed annuity contract with Ohio National Life Insurance Company. The plan will provide you and your beneficiary with fully vested cash settlement or income benefits after termination of employment for any reason.

Employees may utilize the Vaughn Library and Learning Resource Center.

Fitness Facility Use

Employee and immediate family use of the Apache Recreation Center - an indoor weight and exercise center, 18-hole disc golf course, covered basketball course, and outdoor ping-pong table and cornhole. The cost is $5 per ID.
